OVW TV #976: DL3 "Screws" Cardinal

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 2, 2018. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 9PM, and online at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, new #1 contender Randall Floyd faces Shiloh Jonze, Logan James defends the TV Title, a new #1 contender for the Women's Title is decided, plus more!

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe defeats Flex Murphy (w/"Shotgun" Tony Gunn). Howe slams Flex and hits the strumming fistdrop. He runs into a boot from Flex in the corner, but takes Flex back down as he charges at him. He hits a sliding uppercut and chinbuster. Flex pulls him out of the ring, but Howe pulls him out with him. He hits him and kicks his face from the apron. Back inside, he connects with a running knee to the face for the 3.

"The Trinidad Titan" Justin Smooth defeats "The Vet" Apollo. Smooth with an armbar, but Apollo gets in the ropes. Smooth with a side headlock, and Apollo gets in the ropes again. Smooth locks him up from behind and again Apollo gets in the ropes. Apollo hits him and works him over in the corner. Apollo argues with the crowd and turns into a bicycle kick from Smooth for the 3.

"The Boy Wonder" Sam Thompson & Big Zo defeat "Livewire" KTD & Christian Hernandez. Sam offers a handshake to KTD, but gets slapped in the face. Sam smacks back and locks in a side headlock. Zo comes in and takes over. He takes KTD down for the Are You Serious? legdrop for 2. Sam tags back in and KTD gets him into his corner. Christian comes in and pummels Sam in the corner. KTD tags back in and tries to pin. Sam tries to work his way to the corner, but KTD clubs him. Sam ends up getting the tag to Zo, and Zo runs through KTD. He sets up for a powerbomb. Christian tries getting in to stop it, but Sam cuts him off with a super kick. Zo powerbombs KTD and gets the 3.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The River City Dragon" Logan James (c) defeats Billy O. Billy goes after LJ, taking him to the mat and firing away. LJ rolls out. Back inside, Billy catches him with a hip toss, arm drag, and dropkick. He goes for the corner high knee, but LJ rolls out again. LJ grabs the title and starts walking to the back. Billy drags him back in, and LJ kicks him. He goes off the ropes and Billy catches him with a big back body drop. LJ rolls out again and pulls Billy out. He hits him and throws him into the steps. Back inside, Billy regains control and splashes him in the corner. Billy gets him up on his shoulders, but LJ slides off and throws him into the corner. He charges and Billy flips him onto the apron. LJ kicks him in the face, then hits a springboard dropkick for 2. LJ locks in a chinlock and Billy drops to break out of it. LJ pulls him down and hits him in the face. Billy fires back again and hits a big boot. He puts him on his shoulders and hits an inverted slam. LJ picks himself up on the ropes and Billy grabs him. LJ struggles and grabs the ref. He kicks Billy below the belt where the ref can't see it. He then hits the running knee to the face for the 3.

Ted McNaler is in the ring. He brings out The Bro Godz for "Dr. Manbeast's Wrestling Clinic". They want instant gratification and are directing the show tonight. They want the Southern Tag Team Titles tonight! Cardinal & DL3 come out and Cardinal says if they want it, they got it!
OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: "The Bro Godz": Colton Cage & Dustin Jackson (w/Dimes & Jaylee) defeat Cardinal & DL3 (c). Cardinal & DL3 control early, working very well together. They double hip toss Dustin. Dustin hits Cardinal in the throat and tags Colton. Colton hits Cardinal and Cardinal reverses a throw to the corner. He chops Colton hard, then clotheslines him. Dustin trips Cardinal up, then Colton chokes him in the ropes. Dustin tags in and they double team him in the corner. Dustin chokes him. They work him over. As he tries to fight back, Dustin connects with a big dropkick. Cardinal hits a brainbuster into a small package for 2 as Colton breaks it up. Cardinal continues to take the Bros down and tags DL3, who is also doing very well taking it to the Bros. DL3 decides to revert to old ways by bringing in a big screwdriver. He accidentally clocks Cardinal from behind. DL3 turns around and the Bros take him down with the Snapshot for the 3.
We have NEW Southern Tag Team Champions!

Gilbert Corsey brings out the NEW Anarchy Champion Dapper Dan. Dan says this isn't just Dapper Dan, it's Dapper and the People. Gilbert tells him that Al Snow has made the rule for the Anarchy division that the champion gets to pick the stipulation for their title matches. He says Dan will face the other 3 men that were in the final four of the tournament...Big Zo, Apollo, & Tony Gunn.
Gunn interrupts and says congratulations, but tries to talk Dan into an actual wrestling match and not using a gimmick for their Fatal 4 Way. Dan says it will be a street fight. Gunn says he isn't coming, and Dan says to man up and not be a chicken.

#1 CONTENDER for the WOMEN'S TITLE: Cali defeats Valerie Vermin. A slow start back and forth, but things pick up toward the end as Cali connects with an x-factor, then makes Val tap out to a cross armbreaker for the submission victory.

"The Real Deal" Randall Floyd defeats Shiloh Jonze. A good start from Randall. Randall gets distracted by Michael Hayes at the announce table and Shiloh takes advantage. Shiloh works Randall over and tries to use Hayes' mandible claw. Randall blocks it and hits the powerslam for 2. Shiloh regains control after catching Randall with a kick to the face. He goes to the top rope and jumps off into a cutter out of nowhere from Randall for the 3.
After the match, Hayes gets in the ring and admits he's impressed, but says Randall still has no idea what he is getting into. Randall says he is ready and plans to walk out as the new champion come May 12.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Rump Thump (w/Big Zo) defeats Dimes (w/Jaylee). Dimes locks in a side headlock, but Rump drops him. He misses a butt drop and Dimes chokes him in the ropes. Dimes hits him in the corner and throws him. Rump reverses, but misses a corner splash as Dimes moves. Dimes goes for the pin for 2. Rump misses a charge with the butt in the corner. Dimes jumps on Rump's back to lock in a sleeper. Rump flips him off and nails some big rights. He hits a flapjack and connects with the Thump for the 3.

8-MAN TAG: Amon & "The Void": Chace Destiny, Houdini, & Nigel defeat William Lutz, "The Top Guys": Kevin Giza & "The Winter Swoldier" Adam Slade, & Lukas Gibson. Lutz, Lukas, and the Top Guys take it to Nigel and then Chace early. Chace is hit with a 619 by Giza and a standing moonsault from Lutz. Houdini sneaks around the ring and causes chaos that allows his team to take control. Lutz gets worked over in the corner by the Void & Amon. Amon hits his own head off the turnbuckle, then hits Lutz off the turnbuckle. He chops him on the chest, then across the back. Lutz gets the tag to Lukas. Lukas & Giza hit a double team superplex on Amon out of the corner with assistance from Slade & Lutz, but Amon sits right up! The Void takes out the Top Guys & Lutz as Amon pedigrees Lukas for the 3.
