OVW TV #923: "Bad Boys Benefit"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 26, 2017. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, the Bad Boys Club defend their OVW Southern Tag Team Titles, Cali faces Maria for #1 contendership to the OVW Women's Title, Big Jon speaks about his battle with Daniel Eads at the next SNS, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Dean Hill comes out and says that OVW is like a big family and we lost one of our own this week. Danny Davis' mother passed away and to honor her, there was a 10-bell salute after Dean brought out the entire locker room to surround the ring.

Dapper Dan defeats Dustin Jackson. Dan controls most of this match. He hits Dustin with 3 german suplexes before putting him away with the Death Valley Driver. After the match, Dan cracks Dustin across the back with the kendo stick a few times for good measure.

Adam Slade defeats "Ultimo Stingray". Stingray got a very dark tan, added a few pounds, and shaved the beard off that used to flow out of the bottom of his mask. He should not be confused with fellow luchador "El Thumpo de Rumpo". A good back and forth match. Stingray misses a top rope moonsault, and Slade rolls him up with his feet on the ropes for the 3.

LJ, Lukas Gibson Jacobs, & Houdini defeat Dre Blitz, Chace Destiny, & Little Damion (w/Jade Dawson). Everyone gets a chance to get in this match for a moment. In the end, Lukas flies out on Chace & Damion, while inside, LJ hits a running knee to Blitz. LJ finishes him off with a frog splash for the 3. After the match, Jade gets in the ring, shakes hands with Damion & Chace, then turns and DDT's Blitz.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html.

Ron Hed & Josh Ashcraft are on commentary, and KC is the ring announcer.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE MATCH: "The Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stu (c) defeats Apollo. Apollo attacks Stu from behind and has the early advantage, but Stu fires back and gives Apollo some healing.
Jade Dawson comes to ringside and distracts Stu. Apollo comes up from behind and goes for his full nelson slam finisher, but Stu slides out and hits the claw slam for the 3. After the match, Jade gets in and dares Stu to hit him. He then whispers something in Stu's ear and leaves. Ron Hed tries to get a word wih Stu about what Jade has been whispering in his ear, but Stu goes on to the back without saying anything.

Ron Hed brings out Kevin Giza. Giza says he was supposed to have a rematch against the Bad Boys Club for the Southern Tag Team Titles tonight, but Billy O is still injured and not cleared to compete or even be at ringside. He says he will find someone in the back if he can, and if not, he will fight them alone if he has to. The Bad Boys come out and after Randy Royal checks to make sure "is this thing on?", he asks Giza to clarify that he is by himself, and still wants to compete.
They then attack him and wrap a chair around his arm, like they did with Billy O. Shane Andrews jumps off the top rope on the chair, crushing Giza's arm as Tyler Matrix & Hy Zaya run out and chase the Bad Boys off.
They want a shot at the Bad Boys, and Dean Hill comes out and makes it official for the main event tonight, titles on the line.

#1 CONTENDER for the OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: Cali defeats "The Most Hated Woman in Wrestling" Maria James. A quick back and forth match that sees Cali get the victory after locking in an armlock submission for the tapout.
Adam Revolver comes out with Shannon the Dude. He presents him with an award, a "World Heavyweight Radio Champion" title belt. He says not only is Shannon the best DJ, but he's also 3-0 against Tyler Matrix.
Matrix comes out and says he is a former champion, and challenges Shannon to a match for his radio championship. Dean Hill comes out and laughs at Shannon for thinking he is a champion, specifically a heavyweight.
He tells Matrix that the radio title is not recognized by OVW as a legitimate title. However, he will put him in a match with Revolver. However, it's always a numbers game with Shannon. So the match will be a lumberjack match at the May 13 SNS, and he will inform those lumberjacks that they can do anything to Shannon if he decides to get involved. He also tells Matrix that he can have a shot at any title he chooses if he wins.

Justin Smooth defeats David Lee Lorenze III. David attacks Smooth, but Smooth comes right back and clotheslines David hard. David rolls out, and Smooth goes to the outside and beats him up around ringside. Back inside, he hits David with the running big boot, and follows it up with Street Justice for the 3. After the match, David throws another tantrum.

Big Jon is interviewed. He talks about Tony Gunn being a good athlete after he took the bullet for him last week. He then says he will take down Daniel Eads at the May 13 SNS.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: "The Bad Boys Club": "Bad Boy" Shane Andrews & "Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/"Bad Girl" Jessie Belle) defeat "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix & "Hood Ninja" Hy Zaya. A very good main event. Matrix takes the brunt of the abuse before hitting a kick to the side of Royal's head. Shane & Hy are tagged in and Hy is on fire. He connects with a spinebuster and goes up for the Ninja Vanish. The ref is looking on the outside where Matrix has dived out onto Royal. Jessie gets on the apron and knocks Hy across the top rope. Shane grabs him off and hits a finisher for the 3.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Ca$h Flo (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeats Cristian Hernandez. Ca$h with some vicious chops, a low blow, and a power bomb, but Hernandez kicks out. Ca$h finally gets the 3 and the win after the Wall Street Crash.

As always, thanks for reading!
