OVW TV #922: "Mucho Mundo"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, April 19, 2017. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html. In this episode, Johnny Mundo returns to OVW, Big Jon faces Adam Revolver, Madi Maxx defends the OVW Women's Title in a triple threat, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Big Zo defeats David Lee Lorenze III. David needs 3 takes to try and take the big man down. Zo chops him and slams him. He misses the big legdrop, hurting his leg. Zo still takes David down and goes up for the Zo bomb, but David gets up and knocks him off the ropes. He works over Zo's knee, but Zo catches David with a big slam. Zo's knee goes out on a charge at David, and David goes back after it. David goes off the ropes and runs into 2 big clotheslines and a slam. Zo delivers a powerbomb and gets the 3. Afther the match, David throws a temper tantrum at ringside, throwing a chair and water bottles.

Ron Hed brings out former tag team champions Billy O & Kevin Giza. They say they will make it back to the top and once again become champions, then argue over a team name. Billy says they should shave their heads and call themselves the "Good Boys Club", Giza says the "Young Gizas", Billy says "Oceans 21", Giza says "Chiseled Young Gizas", before finally being interrupted by Apollo & Dre Blitz. Apollo says they should worry more about getting their titles back than a team name, and right now, they should worry more about him & Blitz...
Billy O & Kevin Giza defeat Apollo & Dre Blitz. Billy is still fighting with one arm after last week's chair attack by the Bad Boys Club. He gets some punishment, but makes a hot tag to Giza. Giza in with some kicks, and Billy comes back in. Apollo is tossed from the ring, Billy hits the fameasser on Blitz, and Giza follows it up with the 450 splash for the 3.

Adam Slade defeats Colton Cage. A quick back and forth start. Slade hits a double underhook suplex for 2, and then a slam for 2. He misses a superkick after chanting "USA", and Cage is back with a clothesline, spinning kick, and the side effect. He misses the scissor kick, and Slade rolls him up with a handful of tights for the 3.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/ovw-media.html.

Ron Hed & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and KC is the ring announcer.

OVW Heavyweight Champion Big Jon defeats Adam Revolver.
Revolver comes out with his team for the Run for the Ropes event: Jade Dawson, Randy Royal, Shane Andrews, & Dapper Dan (w/Jessie Belle). They come into play during the match, distracting Jon and the ref, and the Bad Boys come in on one distraction and double DDT Jon. Jon still overcomes all of it. Later on, Dapper Dan is distracting the ref and Jade tries to jump in. Jon catches him for a chokeslam while Revolver rolls out and grabs a chair. Before he can get in, Tyler Matrix comes out and grabs it away.
Revolver turns into a chokeslam from Jon for the 3.

Gilbert Corsey & Ron Hed run down the card for tonight and talk about the return of Johnny Mundo.
They also talk about the upcoming Run for the Ropes event, and announce that Jay Bradley (Aiden O'Shea) is returning to take part in the Thoroughbred Battle Royal for a chance at the OVW Heavyweight Championship.

Gilbert Corsey shows the movie preview for "Boone the Bounty Hunter" that stars Johnny Mundo, before bringing him out. He talks about the basis of the movie, and talks about Hollywood vs. wrestling. He says they are each a different beast and he enjoys both, but there is nothing like being live in the ring in front of great crowds like the one in the Davis Arena tonight. He goes on to talk about how OVW prepared him for his career. He says he didn't know anything coming in, but thanks to Danny Davis, Jim Cornette, Rob Conway, & Nick Dinsmore among others, he learned from the best here in OVW. He also says he was lucky enough to come here with someone from MTV's Tough Enough and calls for Matt Cappotelli to come out. Instead, he gets Robbie Walker. Walker says Mundo must be missing some of his brain like Cappotelli. He says he was the first trainee of Cappotelli, and says that's where the comparisons stop. He is a much bigger star than Mundo.
Dean Hill comes out upset at what Walker has said and says he should throw Walker out of the ring and even the building. Mundo whispers in his ear, and Dean asks if he is sure. Mundo says he learned from Rip Rogers that you never leave home without your gear. Dean announces that Walker will face Mundo in the main event tonight!

OVW WOMEN'S TITLE: Madi Maxx (c) defeats Cali & Jessie Belle. A quick back and forth match that sees Jessie tie Cali to the corner at one point while she fought with Madi. In the end, Cali tries to roll up Madi, but Madi rolls through and gets the 3.

Dapper Dan defeats "The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix. Good back and forth start. Matrix connects with a glitch kick, drive-by, and swanton, but Jessie Belle runs out to distract the ref. The Bad Boys Club comes out to attack Matrix, but Billy O & Kevin Giza runs out to fight with them. Matrix distracted, turns into a Death Valley Driver and Dan gets the 3.
The rest of Team Matrix comes out to check on him as Team Revolver retreats.

"The Man of Tomorrow" Daniel Eads vs. "Shotgun" Tony Gunn ends in a double countout. A good back and forth match that spills to the outside. They continue fighting, even after the bell.
After the match, Big Jon comes out and exchanges blows with Eads and charges at him, but gets caught with a kick to the face. Eads grabs the title belt and goes after Jon, but Gunn sacrifices himself to push Jon out of the way, and Gunn gets clocked. Eads drops the belt and leaves the ring.

Johnny Mundo defeats "The King of Hairstyle" Robbie WalkerA quick start by Mundo, but Walker pokes Mundo in the eye and uses his hairspray on him. Mundo fires back and hits some cool innovative flips and moves. Off the ropes, Mundo flips Walker over his head and Walker lands the Comb Over on the ref. Mundo hits the Moonlight Drive, and goes up top. He jumps off and rolls through as Walker moves. He gets caught with a Comb Over, but there's no ref. Matt Cappotelli comes out, hits Walker, and uses the hairspray on him. Walker turns into the Nitro Blast, and Mundo then connects with Starship Pain for the 3.
After the match, Mundo & Cappotelli embrace,
and they throw Walker out of the ring.

This ended the TV taping.
