OVW TV #875: "Signed, Sealed, Delivered"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, May 25, 2016. This episode can be seen on WBNA-21 in the Louisville area on Saturday at 11AM and 10PM, and online on Monday at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, an announcement is sent to the arena by Dean Hill regarding Rocco Bellagio's title defense at the Saturday Night Special on June 4, Robbie Walker faces Tyler Matrix, Rev. Stuart Miles is back with a good word, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Amazing Maria James defeats Jessie Belle (w/Shane Andrews & Randy Royal). They lock up and Maria gets Jessie in a side headlock. Jessie Belle breaks free and hammers Maria across her back. She stomps Maria in the gut and thumps her with her rear in the corner. Maria comes back with a Russian leg sweep. Jessie hits Maria in the corner again and misses a bronco buster. Maria headbutts Jessie and splashes her in the corner. Maria goes for a bulldog, but Jessie throws her off. She takes the turnbuckle off one corner and throws Maria toward it as Royal distracts the ref. Maria stops herself from running into it and elbows Jessie. Jessie comes back and DDT's her, but referee Jamie Lynn is putting the turnbuckle back on. Jessie is mad, and it allows Maria to recover and roll Jessie up for 3. After the match, Jessie yells at Jamie, saying she had the 3. She shoves Jamie Lynn, but Jamie shoves back. Jessie shoves her again, and Jamie clotheslines her. Jessie says she needs to get rid of the stripes and put on her boots next week, because Jessie wants her 1-on-1.

OVW Heavyweight Champion "The Show Stealer" Rocco Bellagio defeats The Assassin. Rocco & Assassin exchange blows. Assassin off the ropes with shoulder blocks, but neither man moves. On the third attempt, Assassin runs into a big boot from Rocco. Assassin reverses a throw and hits Rocco in the corner. He charges in, but Rocco moves. Assassin hits his shoulder and turns into the Plunge from Rocco for the 3.
After the match, Rocco says he is the champion and it will stay that way after the Saturday Night Special. Gilbert Corsey comes to the ring and says he received an e-mail from Dean Hill. Dean apologizes for not being at the arena, as he is scouting for the new talent initiative. He says Rocco will not run roughshod through OVW now or ever. He has a new main event for the June 4 SNS and it is on its way to the arena in a sealed envelope and it will be opened by the end of the night.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 11AM and 10PM (check local listings) and on OVW's official website Mondays at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Gilbert Corsey, Ron Hed, & Shannon the Dude are on commentary, and Torey Payne is the ring announcer.

OVW TELEVISION TITLE: Tony Gunn defeats "The Party Starter" Bud Dwight (c) by countout. Another good match with quick reversals and pin attempts early. Dwight hits the big boot from the apron to Gunn on the turnbuckle and then hits a flying clothesline for 2. Gunn comes back and tries for the sharpshooter, but Dwight rolls him up in an inside cradle for 2. Dwight catches a kick from Gunn and slingshots him into the corner. Dwight hits a huge clothesline and an inverted suplex. He goes for the in-knee-briator, but Gunn holds the ropes. There are several alternating pin attempts. Dwight then catches Gunn with a high knee. Gunn comes back and tries the reverse DDT, but Dwight rolls him up for 2. They both fight over the top rope and crash to the outside. Gunn rolls back in at 9, and Dwight can't make it in.
After the match, Gunn grabs the title and reluctantly hands it back to Dwight and shakes his hand. He goes to the back as Dwight makes his exit. Gunn comes back through the curtain and blindsides Dwight. He rolls him back in the ring and hits the reverse DDT. Gunn is tired of Dwight's fluke wins and says he is the best wrestler in OVW and will be taking the title from Dwight very soon.

Stephon Smith comes to the ring and asks where Rudy (Switchblade) is. He says Rudy is using the tired excuse that there was a family emergency. He says Rudy is scared and is a coward. He is asking, no demanding, that Rudy show up at the Saturday Night Special on June 4. He says that he is no longer Stephon the nerd or Rump Thump, but he is dangerous. He's like a pegasus. He tells Rudy to cut the lies and be a man.

GAUNTLET MATCH: Trevor Steele defeats Damion (w/OVW Women's Champion Scarlet). Steele throws Damion hard into the corner and then swings him around by his arms and gets the 3.
Trevor Steele defeats Ringmaster. Ringmaster tries to use quickness, but Steele takes him down pretty quickly also with a huge side slam. Dapper Dan Van Zandt attacks Steele right away leading to...
Trevor Steele defeats Dapper Dan Van Zandt by DQ. Dan hits Steele, but only seems to make him madder. Dan keeps retreating to the outside where he decides to take Houdini (who was on camera) hostage. This allows Ringmaster to sneak around and hit Steele from behind with a chair, but it doesn't faze him. He hits the chair back into Ringmaster's head and then shoves Damion to the ground. He goes in after Dan, but Dan throws a handful of powder in the eyes. The Circus triple-teams Steele and are chaining his hands behind his back when Houdini gets back in with the chair and hits Damion & Ringmaster, and runs them off.

Big Jon comes out for commentary...
Justin Smooth defeats Jade Dawson. Smooth with some early offense, including chops and a big suplex. Jade comes back with a spinning kick and connects with the fameasser, but Smooth kicks out. Jade jumps at Smooth, but gets caught in his finisher for the 3.

The old Rev. Stuart Miles comes to the ring and says "Hello Sinners!", but he is referring to The Bad Boys Club. He has a good word and it is history. He says there were many "bad boys" who tried to overcome the Great One above, but failed. He says soon the Bad Boys will be history. Adam Revolver joins him in the ring and says he needs to calm down, he needs some healing himself. Adam then bops Stu in the head as the Bad Boys come out. Shane Andrews says he will remind him about some recent history. They hung him over the top rope where he couldn't talk for 6 weeks, took the tag titles, and introduced him to the "Wreck Your Life" tour. Randy Royal then says that maybe his God doesn't care about him, and it sets off a brawl. Royal wraps the noose around Stu's neck, but Stu hits him with a DDT. He then wraps Royal's neck in the noose, but he is stopped by Adam and the referees as Shane pulls Royal out of the ring.

"The Young Lion" Tyler Matrix defeats "Primetime" Robbie Walker. Matrix gets a quick start after ducking a shot in the corner from Walker. He hits a forearm and a kick, but Walker comes back and controls the offense for a while. Matrix comes back with a dropkick, enziguri, and hits the drive-by. He misses the senton bomb, and Walker then connects with a flying body press. Robbie hits a double knee to the back of Matrix in the corner. Walker hangs him in a tree of woe and goes for a stomp off the top rope, but Matrix avoids it and kicks Walker in the head. He goes to grab Walker, but Walker reverses and tries for his finisher. Matrix reverses and hits a spinning neckbreaker. He goes up and connects with the senton for the 3.
As Matrix celebrates his win, Rocco Bellagio comes out wanting to know what is in the envelope. Gilbert Corsey makes his way into the ring and tells Matrix to stick around. Daniel Eads then makes his way out with Josh Ashcraft. Gilbert says that at the June 4 SNS, Rocco will face both Tyler Matrix and Daniel Eads. Rocco says he has to face both those two? Gilbert says that's not all, it is actually a Fatal-4-Way, and Dean Hill will announce the 4th man next week. A brawl breaks out, and Rocco is the lone man standing at the end once again.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

Big Zo defeats Houdini in a literal squash, finishing him off with a big ending.

Daniel Eads & Stephon Smith (w/Josh Ashcraft) defeat "The Tag Buddies": Adam Revolver & Rev. Stu Miles. Adam & Stu tried getting in Stephon's head early by smacking their backsides and calling him "Rump Thump" and then "Bubblebutt". In the end, though, Eads hits the Weight of the World on Stu for the 3.

As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I don't think a titleholder should have to defend his/her belt in a triple threat or fatal four way match. It isn't right for a champ to have to give up a title if he did not get beat for it. By the way, if I hear the phrase "Dean Hill's Law" one more time, I am going to scream!
