OVW TV #787: "Surprise, Surprise!"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, September 17, 2014. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Adam Revolver faces a surprise opponent, we hear from former OVW Southern Tag Team Champions Jamin Olivencia & Chris Silvio, we have another surprise for the #1 contender's match between Marcus Anthony & Cliff Compton, plus more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Wild Boyz": Eddie F. Diamond & "Party Starter" Bud Dwight vs. "TerreMex": Randy Terrez & the Mexicutioner.
A very good back and forth match between these two contending teams that sees a lot of mat wrestling and tags. In the end, Mex gets a quick rollup on Dwight for the 3.
WINNERS: TERREMEX by pinfall.

Deonta Davis (w/Leon Shelly) vs. "Wrestling's Rockstar" Ryan Howe.
Howe hits and slams Deonta, but gets his foot grabbed by Leon. Deonta hits Howe from behind, but that is the only offense he gets. Howe with 2 atomic drops, an uppercut, and a spear. Howe hits the strumming fist drop and goes up top. Howe connects with the Chart Topper for the 3.
WINNER: HOWE by pinfall.
After the match, Leon gets in the ring and goes after Howe, but Howe hits him with a spear also.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv and on WBNA ion-21 in the Louisville area Saturdays at 9AM and 10PM (check local listings).

Backstage, Michael Titus is telling Adam Revolver that he is going to get him another shot at the OVW Television Title. Timmy Danger walks in and says that was Adam's last shot last week. Adam will have to work his way back up, starting tonight, against a surprise opponent. He then let's Titus know that Danny Davis also has a surprise for the #1 contender's match tonight and reminds them that "failure is not an option" as he smiles and walks off.

Dean Hill & Gilbert Corsey are on commentary, and Shannon the Dude is the ring announcer.

Adam Revolver (w/Michael Titus) vs. Dylan Bostic.
Bostic goes after Revolver and hits and chops him around ringside. He dropkicks, roundhouse kicks, and dives on Adam on the outside. He rolls Adam in and goes up top, where Titus jumps up and grabs his leg. Bostic kicks him away, and Adam gets up on the top rope with him. Bostic knocks him off and hits a flying dropkick. He hits the backstabber, but Titus distracts the ref. Bostic gets up and grabs Titus, allowing Adam to come up from behind and roll him up with a handful of tights for the 3.
WINNER: REVOLVER by pinfall.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Bostic had a fantastic showing and definitely had the crowd support. Even with a loss, he was able to get a measure of revenge on Titus Enterprises.

"Rudo" Raul LaMotta vs. "Primetime" Robbie Walker.
Raul chops Walker, scratches his back, and chokes him. Walker gets some chops back on Raul. Raul hits Walker and cranks his neck in a submission, but again Walker hits the Cosmic Kick out of nowhere for the win.
WINNER: WALKER by pinfall.

Backstage, Timmy Danger approaches Dylan Bostic. Dylan gets up and says he hasn't forgotten about him sicking his guys on him last time he was here. Timmy says he knows he did some horrible things, but times have changed, and he was rooting for him out there. He asks Dylan if it felt good to hurt Adam. Dylan says it did and has to go. Adam Revolver runs in after Bostic leaves and blasts Timmy from behind asking him how that felt. He has a message from Titus, that whatever the surprise is, it won't be Danger.

"The Congregation": "Altar Boy" Jade Dawson & "Apostle" Jake Glasure (w/"Pastor of Disaster" Rev. Stuart Miles) vs. OVW Heavyweight Champion "Mister Marvelous" Melvin Maximus.
Jade hits Melvin, but doesn't faze him. Melvin overhead slams him and Jade tags to Jake. Jake gets slammed and shoulder blocked by Melvin. Melvin tosses Jake across the ring.
On the outside, Ryan Howe is chasing after Miles and they start fighting on the floor. Back inside, Melvin clotheslines Jake out of the ring. He turns around and Jade leaps at him, but Melvin catches him and locks in the Bearhug for the tapout.
WINNER: MELVIN by submission.

Jamin Olivencia comes to the ring and says truth is truth, facts are facts, things between him and Chris Silvio are just not working out.
Silvio comes out and says that Jamin doesn't have a lot of friends in the back, and he has had Jamin's back at the Special, at TV, in the bar, at Kroger, Wendy's, pretty much everywhere. Maybe they are better enemies than friends.
Mary Jane comes out and says they are both being stupid. As a unit, they are the best, most explosive, entertaining tag team.
The War Machine comes out and Shiloh Jonze says they are the tag team champions and they are the best team. Mary Jane makes a challenge for Team Silvi-O-livencia for a tag title shot at the next SNS. Shiloh gives the mic to Eric Locker, and Locker asks why wait? How about they do this next week. Mary Jane accepts on behalf of Jamin & Silvio.

Jason "The Man" Lee vs. Elvis Pridemoore.
Elvis gets on a roll and hits a flying fist to Lee. He leaps at Lee, but Lee drops him and rolls him up with his feet on the ropes for the 3.
WINNER: LEE by pinfall.

OVW TV TITLE MATCH: The Bodyguy vs. Michael Hayes (c).
Hayes comes out on fire, but Bodyguy takes over after Hayes' back goes out on him. Bodyguy hits some left jabs to Hayes' chin, but Hayes catches Bodyguy off the ropes and slams him. He locks in the Liberty Lock for the tapout.
WINNER and STILL OVW TV CHAMPION: HAYES by submission.

Josh Ashcraft comes to the ring to referee the #1 contender's match...
#1 CONTENDER'S MATCH for the OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Marcus Anthony (w/Michael Titus) vs. Cliff Compton.
Before the match begins, Gilbert Corsey says that there will be no advantage to having a crooked referee in your back pocket, because Danny Davis has a surprise return that the Davis Arena knows very well. For one night only, the referee for this matchup is "Package" Chris Sharpe!
Marcus & Titus are livid. The match gets underway with Cliff taking it to Marcus. Titus grabs Cliff's foot and Marcus hits Cliff from behind. Marcus locks in the Crimson Omen, but Cliff breaks out and spears Marcus. Cliff goes up top and hits a flying splash, but Josh Ashcraft runs out and pulls Sharpe from the ring before the 3. Cliff grabs Josh, but Marcus rolls Cliff up from behind and Josh tries to count a quick 3. Sharpe grabs Josh and pulls him out of the ring. He gets in and raises Cliff's hand, and Josh gets back in and raises Marcus' hand. Everyone is arguing and Sharpe spears Josh and they fight outside. Marcus & Cliff return to fighting as Adam Revolver runs out. Melvin Maximus comes out to even the odds.
Melvin goes off the ropes to shoulder block Marcus, but hits Cliff by accident. Marcus rolls out of the ring with Adam & Titus as we learn this match was a no contest.
NO CONTEST.

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:

"Ram Jam" Jonathan Ramser vs. Dapper Dan.
A quick match that sees Dan hook Ramser in the big German suplex to get the 3.
WINNER: DAN by pinfall.

OVW Southern Tag Team Champion Eric Locker (w/Shiloh Jonze) vs. Rump Thump.
Locker dominates the beginning part of the match with help on the outside from Shiloh. Ref Chris Sharpe catches him and throws him out. Rump is then able to fire back and catches Locker with the Thump for the 3.
WINNER: RUMP by pinfall.
After the match, Shiloh comes back out and double teams Rump. Locker hits Rump with the T-Bone Suplex.

This episode of OVW TV will be up online tomorrow. As always, thanks for reading!

  1. I really hope they don't give Cliff Compton another shot at being the number 1 contender and leaves ovw

  2. And yet again, no womens action to be seen, not even in the dark matches. Why am I not surprised...

  3. I just got actual response from OVW on why they are not featuring their women on TV or dark matches these days.

'At this time we do not have Women's wrestlers who can fully commit to being apart of OVW for a variety of reasons. Being apart of OVW extends beyond just appearing for our television show therefore we do not feature them. If this upsets you then realize there are other companies out there who are fully dedicated to Women's wrestling. All it takes is a Google search.'

At least they can confirm most of my comments with their view on women instead of flat out ignoring them and leaving wild speculation continue. It's still a shame they don't want to contribute more energy into finding women who are wiling to be more commited to OVW, since the womens wrestling is the main/only reason I bother to pay attention to OVW. I disagree with their reasoning, but at least I can somewhat understand.

No more disregarding comments about OVW and their lack of interest in the women, they confirmed it for everyone to see so I'll leave it at that.

  4. In one of your pictures it looked like Nick Dumeyer was doing referee duties. Is he a ref now?

    1. Yes, he has retired from active competition and decided to become a referee now.

  5. I think the commentary team needs another member, ever since Titus left all the commentary has been one sided and without the balance of heel and face commentators it really isn't worth listening to, part of a good commentary team is having that back and forth between the commentators who want the good guy to win and the commentator who wants to see the cheating heel to win and also a bit of fresh material wouldn't hurt I mean im sick of hearing gilbert saying "some say Revolver is the least deserving tv champion in OVW history" it is getting really annoying.

  7. It was so funny seeing Timmy Danger knock down Josh Asscrack.

  8. I have nothing against Cliff Compton, but I don't think he should be able to show up after three years and demand a title shot. There are other qualified contenders who have been here from the beginning. They should not have to take a step back because someone else comes back thinking they are more deserving.
