OVW TV #702: "Winner and NEW Heavyweight Champion..."

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 30, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this final episode before Saturday's SNS, we got a new Heavyweight Champion, new #1 contender for the Heavyweight Title, a crazy 4-corner tag team match, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"VIP" Joe Rosa b. Jeremiah Plunkett. Plunkett & VIP both poke each other in the eye. Plunkett gets VIP in the corner and VIP hits him with a cheap shot. They go to lock up for a test of strength, and each kick each other low. They lock up and Plunkett hits a chop to VIP's throat. He scratches VIP's back, and kicks him in the corner. VIP fires back, but Plunkett pokes him in the eye again. He hits a big backdrop and tries to pin, but VIP kicks out. Plunkett locks VIP up from behind and shoves him toward the ropes, but VIP grabs the ref. With the ref distracted, VIP raises his leg and low blows Plunkett behind him. He rolls him up with a handful of tights and gets the 3. MY TAKE: These 2 clearly had the same ideas, but in the end, VIP outplayed Plunkett.

OVW Women's Champion Jessie Belle & Epiphany b. December & Taeler Hendrix. Before Epiphany or Jessie Belle even came out, Taeler was already arguing with December, telling her to listen to her. After Epiphany & Jessie Belle come out, Eddie Diamond 's music hits and he comes out with Timmy Danger. Eddie tells Epiphany she looks even better live than on camera. He says she just makes his heart do crazy things. He loves everything about her, including her lips, hips, and fingertips. He wishes her luck as Taeler & December attack from behind. Taeler kicks Epiphany and puts her in an armbar. She tags December. Epiphany fires back and tags in Jessie Belle. Jessie throws her in the corner and brings Epiphany back in. December with a shot to the chest. She tags Taeler. Taeler with some kicks and tags December back. They throw Epiphany into the ropes for a double clothesline, but Epiphany comes off with a double clothesline of her own. She hits a big slam on December and tags Jessie Belle back in. Jessie hits a sitting snapmare and tries to pin, but Taeler breaks it up. Epiphany gets in and chases Taeler to the back. Jessie hits a running bulldog on December and gets the pin. MY TAKE: Epiphany & Jessie Belle worked well together tonight, but what will happen when they face off for the OVW Women's Title at SNS?

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

OVW TV #701: "Flash Crashes the Show"

This is the OVW Report for Wednesday, January 23, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, Flash wanted to make his presence known, new #1 contenders were made for the OVW Women's & Heavyweight Titles, matches were set for the February SNS, plus much more!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Rudy Switchblade b. Jeremiah Plunkett. Plunkett gets Rudy in the corner and clean breaks. Rudy locks up and gets Plunkett in the corner, but rares back to punch Plunkett, but referee Chris Sharpe grabs his arm. Plunkett takes the advantage and throws Rudy into the corner. Plunkett charges, but Rudy slides out and pulls Plunkett's head across the top rope. Rudy goes up top, but Plunkett recovers and knocks him down across the top turnbuckle and shoves him to the mat. He applies a cross face lock, but Rudy fights back and hits a chinbuster. He tells Sharpe to look the other way and kicks Plunkett below the belt. He then hits a modified pedigree-like maneuver for the 1-2-3. MY TAKE: It will be interesting to see where Rudy goes from here as the fans were clearly behind him and cheering for him tonight.

"The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal & Tony Gunn b. King Enterprises: Matt & Chase King. Tony tries a quick rollup on Matt, but gets 2. He hits an arm drag and tags in Royal. They throw Matt off the ropes and hit a double hip toss. Royal works on Matt's arm and tags Tony back in. Tony goes up to the second rope and comes down across Matt's arm. He tags Royal back in. They again throw Matt off the ropes and Royal kicks him and Gunn hits a kneelift. Chase gets in the ring to break up a pinfall attempt. Gunn comes in after Chase, but referee Josh Ashcraft turns his back to get him in his corner. This allows the Kings to double team Royal. Royal fights back, though, and makes a tag. Gunn is in with some big lariats and locks Matt in the cloverleaf. Chase tries to come in, but Royal meets him with a spear. Matt is forced to tap out. After the match, the Kings were clotheslined by the Assassin. MY TAKE: Royal & Gunn continue to prove that they work well together, whether it is Gunn coaching Royal along, or as an actual tag team tonight.

Eddie Diamond (w/Timmy Danger) b. "VIP" Joe Rosa. Before the match started, EFD said this match was a tribute to Epiphany. Diamond goes after VIP twice, but VIP ducks away. After the second time, VIP got out on the apron, but Diamond brought him back by pulling the ropes and flipping him back in. VIP pokes Diamond in the eye to take the advantage. He hits a big spinebuster and the "V-I-P" legdrop. He can't put him away. He throws Diamond in the corner, but runs into an elbow. Eddie is back with some punches, and hits a spinning back elbow off the ropes. He hits a backdrop followed by a reverse DDT. He cranks the Soulja Boy shuffle for 3. MY TAKE: EFD did enough to come away with a win, but is it enough to impress Epiphany?

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

OVW TV #700: "700th Episode Special"

This is the OVW Report for the historic 700th episode on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. This episode can be seen online starting tomorrow at www.ovwrestling.com/tv. In this episode, we had a steel cage brawl between Doug Williams & Johnny Spade, and every title was on the line! The cage was actually pre-built as we entered and it was filmed before the dark matches, but in my usual style of reporting, I will add the cage match to the beginning of the main show, and report on the dark matches first.

Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

"The Ken of OVW, Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling, & King of Pink" Dylan Freak'n Bostic b. Stephon J. Baxter III. Bostic & Stephon exchange blows, and Stephon gets Dylan in a side headlock. Bostic comes back with some chops and a dropkick. He throws Stephon in the corner and hits a double high knee. Stephon chops back and throws Dylan off the ropes. He goes for a butt bump, but Dylan catches him and hits him with the Backstabber for the pin. MY TAKE: Bostic is proving to be more than just a king of pink, but currently a king of the ring with his winning streak.

"The Double R Superstar" Randy Royal (w/Tony Gunn) b. Jeremiah Plunkett. Plunkett throws some punches right away and throws Royal off the ropes. Randy kicks him and then hits a running high knee. Royal lifts Plunkett up, but Plunkett headbutts him in the chest. He then gouges his face in the ropes (as seen above). Royal comes back, though, hitting a slam, and then knocking Plunkett out with a spinning forearm to the face for the pin. MY TAKE: Whether Royal is truly healthy enough for in-ring competition is moot, because he picks up another solid win here since coming back from heart surgery.

The Mascara Mafia: Espy & Paredyse b. The Best Team Ever: Rudy Switchblade & "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz, The Street Kings: Matt & Chase King, and the Mobile Homers: Adam Revolver & "Manbeast" Ted McNaler (w/Brittany DeVore). Adam started out with Jessie, placing him in an armbar and tagging in Ted. Ted hits Jessie's arm. He tags Adam back and they hit a double elbow to take Jessie down, followed by a double elbow drop. Jessie tags out to Chase and stays in the Kings' corner with Matt. He argues with Rudy from their corner. Rudy comes in for Adam, putting a headlock on Chase. He doesn't tag Jessie as they argue some more. Chase tags in Matt, who comes in and hip tosses Rudy. He tags Chase back who slams Rudy. Rudy tags out to Espy who comes in and fights for a bit, before things break loose. The Kings are thrown out of the ring by the Mobile Homers, the Mascara Mafia then pinches the Mobile Homers out of the ring from behind before each diving out on the 4 on the outside. This leaves Rudy & Jessie in the ring. They are arguing and Jessie dares Rudy to hit him. The fans are chanting for Rudy. Paredyse is back up and sneaks in behind Jessie rolling him up for the pin as Rudy just watches. MY TAKE: I think we are watching the beginning of the end for the team known as BTE. Unless they are pulling another fast one, of course.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the episode first on TV or online before reading the rest of the report. Again, you can check it out on OVW's official website late Thursday afternoon/evening at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Ryan Howe b. "VIP" Joe Rosa. The guitar playin' superstar was down early after VIP took the fight to him. VIP got a little offense in, but it wasn't enough to keep Howe down. Howe quickly came back and finished this one off with the Chart Topper for the win. MY TAKE: Howe gets back on track following his loss at SNS. A decent match to start the night.

Tony Gunn b. Jeremiah Plunkett. Plunkett had the upper hand early with a bit of size advantage. Gunn fired back with rights and lefts and hit a big backdrop. Instead of using the alabama slam or the bearhug, Tony went with a boston crab and forced Plunkett to tap out. MY TAKE: Gunn has been pulling double duty wrestling and training his friend, Randy Royal. It's working for him as he picks up another win and heads into a TV Title opportunity this Sunday at Derby Park Expo 5. Good work from both men.

"The Ken of OVW, Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling, & King of Pink" Dylan Freak'n Bostic (w/Taeler Hendrix) b. "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer. The man with the longest introduction in Ohio Valley Wrestling made fun of "Marksman" 'shooting' at him. Dumeyer got him in the corner, but Bostic took the upper hand. He hit him with a dropkick and a slam as he yelled "Who Sucks Now?". Bostic layed in some punches, but it started to make Dumeyer mad. Dumeyer started to fire back and threw Bostic into the corner. He went to bulldog him out, but Taeler held Bostic's legs. Bostic hit the Backstabber on Dumeyer for the victory. MY TAKE: He continues to get the job done and while riding this winning streak, doesn't suck now.

That concludes tonight's pre-show dark matches. I always recommend watching the show first before reading the full report. The shows are usually posted Thursday afternoon/evening on www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

OVW Saturday Night Special January 2013 Results

These are the results for the first Saturday Night Special of 2013 on January 5. Tonight at the Davis Arena, we saw titles change hands, a brutal ladder match between Jamin Olivencia & Cliff Compton, a war between Team OVW and the Coalition, the return of 2 popular superstars, and a vicious hardcore match between Trailer Park Trash & Flash Flanagan!

Without further ado:

Here we go...

"The Ken of OVW, Justin Bieber of Professional Wrestling, & King of Pink" Dylan Freak'n Bostic vs. Ryan Howe. Howe starts off playing the guitar and singing about Bostic calling himself the King of Pink, saying he needs to be matched up with Paredyse. As Howe puts his guitar away in the corner, Bostic tries to sneak attack, but Howe moves and Bostic runs into the turnbuckle. Howe works over Bostic's arm, and then slams him. He goes up top for the Chart Topper, but Bostic rolls out of the ring. Howe grabs for him, but Bostic yanks his arm across the top rope. Bostic gets back in, but Howe comes back with punches, throws him off the ropes and backflips him. Bostic crawls into the corner where Howe charges after him, but Bostic grabs him and pulls him face first into the second turnbuckle. Bostic tries to grab him out of the corner, but Howe kicks him off. Howe goes to the top rope, but Bostic pushes the ref into the ropes making Howe fall in a bad spot and down to the mat. Bostic goes for the pin and gets the 3 with his feet on the ropes. WINNER: BOSTIC by pinfall. MY TAKE: A good match to kick the night off. It really got the sold out Davis Arena crowd warmed up for the rest of the night's action.

OVW Special Report: Live Event Results

Even though there was not a TV taping tonight, OVW kicked off 2013 with a live event at the Davis Arena that featured the owner himself, Danny Davis in action.

Ryan Howe b. "VIP" Joe Rosa by pinfall following the Chart Topper.

"White Kryptonite" Eddie F. Diamond (w/Timmy "Rampage" Danger) defeated the Bodyguy by pinfall following an inverted DDT.

Elvis Pridemoore b. Stephon J. Baxter III by pinfall following a stunner. After the match, Stephon got clotheslined by the Assassin.

"Nightmare" Danny Davis & Trailer Park Trash b. The Platoon of Wayne's "Kamikaze of Combat Communications" Joe Coleman & "Commodore of the Constitution" Jason Wayne by pinfall after Davis hit a neckbreaker on Coleman followed by a flying leg drop from Trash. Before the match, Wayne & Coleman came out and told Trash that Davis is too old to find his way around and that's why he couldn't make it last week, and that Trash should get him a compass. They revealed that in tribute they were wearing the Nightmare stars around their eyes when they pulled off their sunglasses. Danny Davis snuck out with a trash can lid and hit them both in the back to start the match.

Shiloh Jonze (w/"Rudo" Raul LaMotta) b. "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer by pinfall after hitting him with brass knucks while the ref was distracted by Raul.

Paredyse b. Dylan Bostic (w/Taeler Hendrix) by pinfall following the Long Kiss Goodnight.
