OVWmania Presents: OVW Top 20 (Week 9)

This is the ninth edition of the OVW Top 20 exclusively on OVWmania. After the biggest Saturday Night Special in OVW history, where do the superstars stand following the last week of action?

#1) "SMOOTH" JOHNNY SPADE (Last Week: #1)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Heavyweight Champion

LAST WEEK: Lost to Rocco Bellagio; Lost an 8-man tag with Moose, Michael Hayes, & Trailer Park Trash against Rocco Bellagio, Rob Terry, Joe Coleman, & Jason Wayne; Won the OVW Heavyweight Title at SNS defeating Rob Terry.

*Spade didn't have the best night last Wednesday, but rose to the occasion when it mattered, winning the OVW Heavyweight Championship and saving OVW.

#2) MOHAMAD ALI VAEZ (Last Week: #4)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Television Champion

LAST WEEK: Lost to Rudy Switchblade; Defeated Flash at SNS to become a record 8th time OVW TV Champion.

*Was it greed, or has Ali turned over a new leaf? Regardless, Ali won the TV title for a record 8th time, won over the crowd, and helped Danny Davis reclaim OVW with his win at SNS.

#3) THE BEST TEAM EVER: Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz (Last Week: #3)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champions

LAST WEEK: Jessie lost to Paredyse; Rudy defeated Ali; Defeated the Mascara Mafia at SNS to become OVW Southern Tag Team Champions.

*The Best Team Ever lived up to their team name this week defeating a good team in the Mascara Mafia in a ladder match. Now that Josette is out of power, what lies ahead for this duo, and who will challenge them next for the gold?

#4) ROB TERRY (Last Week: #2)

LAST WEEK: Lost to Danny Davis; With Joe Coleman, Jason Wayne, & Rocco Bellagio defeated Michael Hayes, Johnny Spade, Trailer Park Trash, & Moose; Lost to Johnny Spade at SNS.

*The big man had a bad week, losing to OVW Owner Danny Davis and losing at SNS to Johnny Spade failing to regain the OVW Heavyweight Title and losing power for Josette Bynum. Terry was impressive in the steel cage gauntlet match, however, by eliminating the monster Abyss.

#5) MOOSE & MICHAEL HAYES (Last Week: #5)

LAST WEEK: Defeated Eric Wayne & Danny Todd; With Johnny Spade & Trailer Park Trash, lost to the team of Rob Terry, Joe Coleman, Rocco Bellagio, & Jason Wayne; Both eliminated in the steel cage gauntlet match at SNS.

*The team of Moose & Michael continue to be successful in tag team action. Michael looked really good eliminating both Joe Coleman & Jack Black in the cage at SNS, before both he and Moose were eliminated by Rocco. If the Mascara Mafia doesn't get another shot at the Best Team Ever first, Moose & Michael should be next in line for tag team gold.

#6) THE MASCARA MAFIA: Paredyse & Brandon Espinosa (Last Week: #6)

LAST WEEK: Paredyse defeated Jessie Godderz; Lost to the Best Team Ever at SNS.

*The newly named "Mascara Mafia" had been on a roll until the dangerous ladder match at SNS. They made a good showing, but will they get another shot at the tag team gold?

#7) "RUDO" RAUL LAMOTTA & SHILOH JONZE (Last Week: #7/9)

LAST WEEK: Defeated Sean "Virus" Harddrive & Nasty Russ; Eliminated from the Bunkhouse Battle Royal at SNS by the Assassin.

*Raul & Shiloh shocked the OVW faithful by turning their backs on Team OVW at SNS. Will they have to answer for their actions this Wednesday now that Danny Davis is back in control?

#8) TONY GUNN (Last Week: #11)

LAST WEEK: With Nick Dumeyer, defeated Arik Kristopher & Ricky Chevy; Defeated Raphael Constantine to reclaim Ralphie at SNS.

*Tony had one of the biggest jumps on the Top 20 this week after 2 quality wins. Now that he has Ralphie back in his possession, will he focus on going after some gold?

#9) TAELER HENDRIX (Last Week: #13)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Women's Champion

LAST WEEK: Defeated Epiphany at SNS to become new Women's Champion.

*Taeler picked up another win with assistance from Dylan Bostic, helping her to reclaim the Women's title. Although she won, Epiphany got the last laugh stripping her and Bostic down to their underwear. Will she be meeting up with Epiphany again soon?

#10) CLIFF COMPTON (Last Week: #8)

LAST WEEK: Lost to Chris Silvio; With Chris Silvio, Randy Royal, & Jamin Olivencia, lost to Dylan Bostic, Kharn Alexander, Jose Del Barrio, & "3G" Eric Wayne at SNS.

*Cliff didn't have a good week and it stems from the rivalry that's started between him & Silvio. Cliff will have to learn how to deal with Silvio, or it could cost him more matches and spots on the Top 20.

#11) JAMIN OLIVENCIA (Last Week: #10)

LAST WEEK: With Chris Silvio, Randy Royal, & Cliff Compton, lost to Dylan Bostic, Kharn Alexander, Jose Del Barrio, & "3G" Eric Wayne at SNS.

*Jamin made his return after several weeks of being M.I.A., and looked pretty good at SNS, but failed to win an important match in the Best of 7 series. Now that the leader of the dog pound is back, what can we expect to see from him next?

#12) CHRIS SILVIO (Last Week: #14)

LAST WEEK: Defeated Cliff Compton; With Jamin Olivencia, Randy Royal, & Cliff Compton, lost to Dylan Bostic, Kharn Alexander, Jose Del Barrio, & "3G" Eric Wayne at SNS.

*Silvio & Compton continue to let their emotions get the best of them as they argue and fight with each other. It cost both men an important match for control of OVW at SNS. Will the Psychadelic Superstar ever be able to see eye-to-eye with Cliff?

#13) EPIPHANY (Last Week: #12)

LAST WEEK: Lost to Taeler Hendrix at SNS.

*Epiphany was stripped of both the OVW Women's Title and her evening gown at SNS, thanks to interference from Dylan Bostic. Will she get a chance at a rematch to reclaim a title she never actually lost?

#14) JASON WAYNE (Last Week: #15)

LAST WEEK: With Joe Coleman, Rob Terry, & Rocco Bellagio defeated Michael Hayes, Johnny Spade, Trailer Park Trash, & Moose; Eliminated in the steel cage gauntlet match at SNS.

*Wayne got some offense in, but was manhandled by the monster Abyss at SNS. After pledging allegiance to Jo-VW, what will we see next from the ex-marine now that OVW is back to normal?

#15) TRAILER PARK TRASH (Last Week: NR)

LAST WEEK: Helped Danny Davis get a win over Rob Terry; Lost an 8-man tag with Moose, Michael Hayes, & Trailer Park Trash against Rocco Bellagio, Rob Terry, Joe Coleman, & Jason Wayne; Eliminated in the steel cage gauntlet at SNS.

*The Director of Operations and former OVW Heavyweight Champion didn't collect any wins for himself, but helped Danny Davis win last Wednesday so that last Saturday's Special was even possible.

#16) BOLIN SERVICES 2.0 (Last Week: NR)

LAST WEEK: Rocco defeated Johnny Spade; With Rob Terry & Jason Wayne, defeated Michael Hayes, Johnny Spade, Trailer Park Trash, & Moose; Eliminated in the steel cage gauntlet match at SNS.

*BS 2.0 weren't able to save Jo-VW for Josette Bynum, but made a nice showing in the steel cage, especially Big Rocco, who also got a win over the current OVW Heavyweight Champion Johnny Spade last Wednesday. Could this put them back on the track for success?

#17) DYLAN BOSTIC (Last Week: NR)

LAST WEEK: With "3G" Eric Wayne, Kharn Alexander, & Jose Del Barrio, defeated Jamin Olivencia, Cliff Compton, Chris Silvio, & Randy Royal; Helped Taeler Hendrix recapture the OVW Women's Title.

*Dylan picked up a win for Team Jo-VW at SNS by pinning Cliff Compton, and also helped his girl, Taeler, win against Epiphany. Will he be looking for a title of his own soon, or just be looking out for an angry Epiphany?

#18) "3G" ERIC WAYNE (Last Week: #16)

LAST WEEK: With Danny Todd, lost to Moose & Michael Hayes; With Dylan Bostic, Kharn Alexander, & Jose Del Barrio, defeated Jamin Olivencia, Cliff Compton, Chris Silvio, & Randy Royal at SNS.

*3G's team won at SNS, but he was eliminated from the matchup. The third generation superstar will need to pick it back up to keep from falling farther down the Top 20.

#19) NICK DUMEYER (Last Week: NR)

LAST WEEK: With Tony Gunn, defeated Arik Kristopher & Ricky Chevy; Eliminated in the Bunkhouse Battle Royal at SNS.

*The Marksman has been very helpful over the last several weeks in getting Ralphie back for Tony Gunn. This last week, he also picked up a win with Tony giving him enough to make his Top 20 debut.

#20) RANDY ROYAL (Last Week: #17)

LAST WEEK: With Jamin Olivencia, Chris Silvio, & Cliff Compton, lost to Dylan Bostic, Kharn Alexander, Jose Del Barrio, & "3G" Eric Wayne at SNS.

*The Double R Superstar fell a couple spots this week due to all the movement and a loss at the huge SNS. Randy will need to find a way quickly to jump back up this list.

MISSING THE CUT:
-Raphael Constantine
*After weeks of playing "tag" with Ralphie, Constantine was defeated by Tony Gunn at SNS, causing him to lose Ralphie back to his rightful owner and fall off this week's Top 20.

-Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver
*The 2 bickering brothers were inactive this week, in large part due to Momma getting them to try and make up. If not, they have chores to do, and a "Barbecue" video that will continue to play on infinite loop.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
*Ryan Howe      *Vic the Bruiser      *The Assassin
*Eddie Diamond      *Arik Kristopher

  1. Thanks for the rankings. Why is Royal still on the list? Shouldn’t he be replaced with Constantine? Why? Royal lost at SNS, but up until then, his only contribution in the past week was his use of the “F” bomb in his tweets. (Sorry). He is a great wrestler, but that won’t get him a belt at OVW. And Constantine really did receive more attention.
Not related to your ratings, but an interesting view. You wrote that Epiphany got the last laugh at SNS. Well that may be true in front of you and the other fans at SNS; however it is Hendrix, Bostic and OVW who really got the biggest laughs and largest smiles. As was reported on line by two wrestling writers, the transformation to heal by both Hendrix and Bostic, provided them with additional media exposure. While not the only factor, it was written that this was a one of the contributing highlights that led to Hendrix’s TNA contract, and to a certain point, Bostic’s appearance on WWE. So, as far as the promotion is concerned, I believe there might be success with this formula. Again, the ones who are really laughing and smiling are Taeler, Dylan and OVW. Epiphany and Royal should also be acknowledged for their working contributions. Their scripted “bi-polar feud” provided Taeler and Dylan with that warranted exposure.
Have fun at tonight’s taping and stay cool.
