OVW TV #675: "Now It's Personal!"

Sorry for the delay, but I got caught up watching my St. Louis Cardinals win one in 12 innings against the Dodgers.

Another great night of TV was filmed tonight at Davis Arena. Going into tonight, we knew we had a semifinal match in the Nightmare Cup, a face-off between Spade & Olivencia, and a TV Title match between Tony Gunn & Ali Vaez. Without further ado:

Here we go...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:
James "Moose" Thomas & Michael Hayes b. Eddie Diamond & Raphael Constantine (w/Timmy Danger & Bobbi Bardot). Hayes & Diamond started things off with Michael getting the better of Diamond. Diamond tagged in Constantine by slapping him on the shoulder, and as they argued about the tag, Michael tagged in Moose to the surprise of Constantine as he turned around. Moose kept letting Constantine take free shots, but nothing fazed the big man. Moose threw him around like a rag doll. Michael got back in and they hit their double team finish on Constantine for the victory. MY TAKE: Moose & Michael look ready for their semifinal match in the Nightmare Cup next week.

Brandon Espinosa (w/Chris) b. Ricky Chevy. Chevy told Espy before the match that he knew he was sad that his "partner" left and should just leave the ring. Espy didn't agree. Some "flamboyant" moves from Espy and he hits the facebuster for the win. MY TAKE: Espy has seemed to take over the role of Paredyse as he returns to singles competition, only this time he has the support of the fans behind him.

Bolin Services 2.0: Jack Black & Joe Coleman (w/Chris Bolin) b. The Street Kings: LMC & J. Best. The Street Kings usually consist of LMC & Chase King, so I'm not sure if Chase has been replaced, or if Best just filled in tonight. BS 2.0 controlled most of the match and got the win after Coleman hit a flying clothesline off the top rope onto LMC who was being held up by Black. MY TAKE: BS 2.0 seemed to be okay after their match from last week where they were forced to face each other.

Arik Kristopher b. Fabiano Rolento (w/Heidi Lovelace). Fabiano brought out Heidi trying to impress her. Fabiano actually got in most of the offense, but when he tried to go for a pin with his feet on the ropes, she pushed them off. This distracted Fabiano, allowing AK to hit him with a big DDT for the win. Heidi left with AK after the match. MY TAKE: Even though his win-loss record isn't too great, Fabiano remains one of my favorite parts of the show. I'm part of Fabiano's fan section where we actually bring sombreros to wear while he wrestles. His character is hilarious, and I hope he gets pushed and featured more in the future.

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report. You can find the shows online at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

Rogue Navy vs. Ryan Howe
Navy made his first appearance in a while and started with the advantage due to his size. Howe, who rocked out on the guitar before the match, made his comeback and hit the Rockbuster for the win. WINNER: HOWE. MY VIEW: The rocker continues to succeed in singles action and it may not be too long before he's looking to challenge for some gold.

Johnny Spade comes out and says that him & Jamin Olivencia each said some things last week and he calls Jamin out again to talk to him face-to-face. Spade says he meant what he said last week, but he wants to let bygones be bygones, because he respects Jamin. Jamin says that's fine, but he meant what he said last week also. Things start to get ugly though as they argue, and don't let their issues from last week drop. Jamin says he is going to do something Spade hasn't done and beat Rob Terry in tonight's main event clean. Spade mentions that Jamin failed a drug test, while Jamin says Spade took 14 years to become champion because he was a "junkie". Jamin takes it one step too far, though, and says that after he beats Spade for the title, he hopes he doesn't relapse like "God rest his soul" Spade's father did who overdosed and died. Spade stares Jamin down as he leaves the ring.

Backstage, Chris Silvio & Cliff Compton argue about who is better and we'll find out later, judging by their entrances. We then see Constantine walk through the hallway muttering something about his ladies' videos and auditions, when he comes upon Jessie Belle, Heidi Lovelace, & Taeler Hendrix. He asks Jessie Belle about joining his "sexy train", but Taeler interrupts and asks why he would want a hillbilly pig-farmer. This starts an argument between Taeler & Jessie Belle, and they will settle it in the ring.

Jessie Belle vs. Taeler Hendrix
This was a non-title match. Jessie Belle spanked Taeler's backside as she was making her entrance on the ring apron. Taeler had the early advantage, but Jessie Belle came back ad hit her finisher for the win. WINNER: JESSIE BELLE. MY VIEW: It looks like Jessie Belle made her mark on the Femme Fatale division and could very well be next in line for a shot at Taeler's championship.

Backstage, Bobbi Bardot is paid by Cliff Compton to set up Mo Green who says something that will be used against him & Silvio later. We then see Silvio talking to someone, but I had trouble hearing what exactly was said. We then see Josette on the phone with someone she is bringing in to try and take out Trailer Park Trash at a show in E-Town. A door behind her opens, and it's the men's bathroom, and Trash apparently just finished his business and says he almost forgot he had an assistant, telling her it needs to be cleaned.

OVW Television Title Match: Tony Gunn vs. Mohamad Ali Vaez (c)
Gunn comes out and awaits Ali. Ali is announced 3 times, but never comes out. The third time, Rob Terry emerges from the opposite curtain, holding the title. He throws it in the ring and tells the referee to count. The ref reluctantly counts to 10, and calls the match a forfeit in favor of Tony Gunn, who doesn't want to win this way. WINNER and NEW OVW TV CHAMPION: GUNN. MY VIEW: One might assume that Terry had to be behind the reason for Ali's absence, especially considering he had Ali's title. Terry pointed at Gunn after he was awarded the title. Is Terry challenging for the TV title next week? Does this mean he was too scared to face Ali for the title?

Backstage again, and Randy Royal walks in where he is surrounded by BS 2.0. They ask about his comments on twitter, and Royal says he was only speaking his mind and walks on. BS 2.0 say they are going to take care of him. We then see Silvio messing with Compton's air horn.

Nightmare Cup Semifinal: BS 2.0: Jason Wayne & Rocco Bellagio (w/Chris Bolin, Joe Coleman, & Jack Black) vs. The Mobile Homers: Adam Revolver & Ted McNaler (w/Brittany DeVore)
Most of the match was controlled by BS 2.0, until Adam made the hot tag to Ted. Ted & Adam threw Rocco & Wayne out of the ring before Ted dove out and took out all of BS 2.0. While the ref was distracted with Adam chasing Bolin around the ring, Wayne was going for his finisher on Ted, but Adam got back in the ring and took out Wayne's leg, causing Ted to fall on top of Wayne for the pin. WINNERS: MOBILE HOMERS. MY VIEW: The Mobile Homers are one step closer to the Nightmare Cup. Can they win it all?

Backstage, Cliff Compton is tricking Mary Jane into taking shots of tequila getting her wasted.

Compton then makes his entrance into the arena, but his air horn doesn't work, nor does his whistle. His music stops, and then his old WWE "Deuce 'N Domino" music starts playing, causing him to get angry. The monitors show Silvio & Mo laughing in the back, and they say to watch how a real entrance is done. Silvio makes his way out with Mo & a drunk Mary Jane who is tripping over herself and staggering into the ring. Mo keeps trying to do Silvio's spelling intro, but the mic keeps cutting off. Then Mo's voice plays from earlier where he was tricked into saying something that sounds like he's making fun of Silvio. Silvio & Cliff argue again and start shoving each other. They have to be broken up by referees. This feud is far from over.

Rob Terry vs. Jamin Olivencia
In a reversal from last week, before this match officially started, Johnny Spade came out for commentary. A good back and forth match. Terry controlled for a while with his huge size advantage, before Jamin made a small comeback and hit his Standing O DDT out of nowhere. As he goes to make the pin, the Best Team Ever runs out and causes a DQ. WINNER: JAMIN. After the match, Spade jumps in the ring and helps Jamin clear Terry and the B.T.E. out. As Jamin returns to his feet, he turns around into a Spade superkick to end the show. MY VIEW: They might have respect for each other as competitors, but once you talk about a family member, everything gets thrown out the window. Now it's personal. The crowd is still split about 60-40 favoring Spade, but nevertheless, their title match at the August 4 SNS will be a can't miss!

This ended the TV taping.

Post-Show Dark Matches:
Ricky Chevy came out and said he was rudely interrupted last week, and challenges Trailer Park Trash again, double or nothing, no holds barred, to another dog food match at the next Homecoming. The Assassin's music hits, and again Chevy is able to high-tail it and escape out the side door.

The Best Team Ever: Rudy Switchblade & "Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz b. "Rudo" Raul LaMotta & Shiloh Jonze. The Davis Arena crowd was unsure of who to root for, having already disliked Rudy & Jessie, and not wanting to root for the new attitude combo of Raul & Shiloh. Shiloh was beat on for most of the match, before making a mini comeback and tagging in Raul. Raul took down Jessie and went for a pin which was broke up by Rudy. Shiloh got back in the ring and became a recipient of the BTE's finisher for the 3. MY TAKE: The Best Team Ever has some stiff competition with the likes of the Mobile Homers and Moose & Michael in the Nightmare Cup gunning for them and the Southern Tag Team Championships.
