OVWmania Presents: OVW Top 20 (Week 6)

This is the sixth edition of the OVW Top 20 exclusively on OVWmania. After this past week's events, was Rob Terry able to stay at #1 or do we have a new occupant in the top slot?

#1) JOHNNY SPADE (Last Week: #5)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Rob Terry to win #1 pick for Danny Davis.

*Spade flies back up the Top 20 after defeating the OVW Heavyweight Champion, Rob Terry, in a non-title match. It only makes sense for Spade to be #1 after winning the #1 pick for Danny Davis and then becoming the #1 pick himself.

#2) ROB TERRY (Last Week: #1)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Heavyweight Champion

LAST MATCH: Lost to Johnny Spade.

*The OVW Heavyweight Champion had one heck of a match with the "Smooth" one, but came up empty allowing Danny Davis to choose Spade as his top pick to try and win back control at the July SNS.

#3) THE BEST TEAM EVER: Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz (Last Week: #2)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champions

LAST MATCH: Reclaimed the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles defeating Loco-MG.

*The Best Team Ever was notably absent for Ken Wayne's big announcement. What will they think about it after Josette fills them in on what happened? Plus, with OVW's Tag Team Division heating up, who will be next to challenge them for the gold?

#4) JAMIN OLIVENCIA (Last Week: #3)

LAST MATCH: Lost the OVW Television Title to Mohamad Ali Vaez.

*Jamin was M.I.A. this week, but we can assume that when he comes back he'll be looking to enter the tournament for the vacated Television Title.

#5) MOHAMAD ALI VAEZ (Last Week: #4)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Jamin Olivencia.

*Ali, too, was missing this past week, and will probably be looking to get #8 (TV Title reigns that is, not the #8 spot in the Top 20).

#6) MOOSE & MICHAEL HAYES (Last Week: #7)

LAST MATCH: Defeated the team of LMC and Jayce King.

*The tag team division is heating up with Loco-MG, the Baronis Brothers, Paredyse & Espinosa, and especially Moose & Michael. With the tear they've been on, will they be next in line to get a shot at the Best Team Ever and the Tag Team Titles?

#7) CLIFF COMPTON (Last Week: #6)

LAST MATCH: Went to a time-limit draw with Chris Silvio.

*Cliff had a great battle with the Psychedelic Superstar, but after going to a draw, was eliminated from the TV Title Tournament. It might not be the worst thing, though, as now Cliff can focus on helping Danny Davis regain control of OVW.

#8) CHRIS SILVIO (Last Week: #9)

LAST MATCH: Went to a time-limit draw with Cliff Compton.

*Silvio had a great showing this week, but was eliminated from the TV Title Tournament. Will he turn his focus back to Jason Wayne?

#9) EPIPHANY (Last Week: #8)

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Women's Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Heidi.

*Epiphany was inactive this week with the big announcement and ceremony going on, but rumor has it that the OVW Femme Fatale division is about to heat up very soon.

#10) LOCO-MG (Last Week: #10)

LAST MATCH: Lost the OVW Southern Tag Team Titles to the Best Team Ever.

*Loco-MG are one of many tag teams looking to get a shot at the Best Team Ever and tag team gold.

#11) PARE-NOSA or ESPY-DYSE (Last Week: #12/15)

LAST MATCH: Defeated BS 2.0.

*After an interesting ceremony, the happy couple who have yet to decide on an official team name got their first tag team win defeating Jack Black & Rocco Bellagio of BS 2.0. It won't be long before they will be looking for tag team gold as well.

#12) JASON WAYNE (Last Week: #11)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Chris Silvio at SNS via countout.

*Wayne escaped with a victory the last time he fought, but he hasn't been back in the ring the last 2 weeks. Is his tough talk to cover up his fear of losing to Silvio, should they meet again?

#13) TONY GUNN (Last Week: #13)

LAST MATCH: Defeated "3G" Eric Wayne.

*Gunn keeps coming close, but can't quite retrieve Ralphie. Will he be able to keep his focus in the ring without thinking about his bear?

#14) RANDY ROYAL (Last Week: #14)

LAST MATCH: Lost to Rob Terry.

*The Double R Superstar was hoping for a chance to prove what he had to Danny Davis, but maybe now he can enter the TV Title Tournament and go for some gold.

#15) TED McNALER (Last Week: #16)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Raphael Constantine.

*McNaler gained a win, but was frazzled after finding the contents of his baggage thrown about the locker room by Adam Revolver. He says next week he will end this once and for all. What will happen when these brothers tangle it up one more time?

#16) THE ASSASSIN (Last Week: #18)

LAST WEEK: Took out Eddie Diamond & Chris Sharpe.

*The Assassin keeps climbing the Top 20 just by laying people out. (After all, who's going to tell him no?) This week, he made the fans happy by clotheslining Sharpe into next week.

#17) TAELER HENDRIX (Last Week: #17)

LAST MATCH: Lost the OVW Women's Title to Epiphany at SNS.

*Taeler is still upset about losing the Women's title she held for so long. With all the issues over control and power of OVW, will she ever get her rematch?

#18) "3G" Eric Wayne (Last Week: NR)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Elvis Pridemoore.

*Wayne has quickly gotten the attention of the Top 20, as a young and talented superstar who appears to be headed for big things.

#19) JOSH ASHCRAFT (Last Week: NR)

LAST MATCH: Defeated Chris Sharpe.

*As I stated last week, the Top 20 isn't only for wrestlers, and this week referee Josh Ashcraft makes his debut after standing up for OVW and knocking "Sharpie" down a peg.

#20) RAPHAEL CONSTANTINE (Last Week: #19)

LAST MATCH: Lost to Ted McNaler.

*Constantine is still obsessed with keeping Ralphie away from Tony Gunn, and it's costing him matches. This week, it almost cost him being on the Top 20 list. He'll need to turn things around or be in danger of falling off.

JUST MISSING THE CUT:
-Vic the Bruiser
*Vic was back in action this week and picked up an impressive win over Eddie Diamond.

KEEP AN EYE ON:
*Nick Dumeyer      *Dylan Bostic      *Adam Revolver
*LMC & King      *BS 2.0

  1. Thanks for the rankings. I agree with most of your analysis.
Why haven’t you placed Ms. Josette in your rankings? From what I can tell, she still has power at OVW and that probably won’t change.
And swap Mr. Royal with the Assassin. The Assassin is making his presence known at OVW. What did the Royal accomplish last week? Tweeted about how he was going to slap a female. (No not Bostic! LOL)! I know you hold him in high esteem, but tweeting smack won’t get him a belt. Sorry! He is a great wrestler. So why does OVW still have him acting like a thug? As always, keep up the great blog and enjoy your evening at the Tapings! Looking forward to your report.

    1. I had thought about placing Josette at one point, but then decided not to. If I did, then I'd have to think about putting Danny Davis or Ken Wayne in there too. The Assassin's moving up...most of the rankings didn't move a whole lot this week due to many stars being absent from the tv taping (OVW had another show last Wed. night in another county). Most of the movement came from stars who actually had matches which wasn't a lot due to the silly ceremony between Paredyse & Espinosa, and all the smack talk between Josette, Davis, & Ken Wayne.
