OVWmania Presents: OVW Top 20 (Week 1)

I will start doing a weekly ranking for the superstars of Ohio Valley Wrestling. This is the first Top 20 exclusively on OVWmania.

#1) ROB TERRY

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Heavyweight Champion

LAST MATCH: Defeated Johnny Spade to become OVW Heavyweight Champion

*Terry has dominated the last several weeks and in doing so, became the 6th overall OVW Triple Crown Winner.

#2) JOHNNY SPADE

LAST MATCH: Lost the OVW Heavyweight Title to Rob Terry

*Spade held the title for 2 months defending successfully against the likes of Rudy Switchblade, Jamin Olivencia, & Shiloh Jonze, but the dominating Rob Terry mixed with the cheap tactics of the Family and help from Jason Wayne cost him the title and the #1 spot.

#3) JESSIE GODDERZ

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champion

LAST MATCH: Defended successfully with Rudy Switchblade against Shiloh Jonze & Raul LaMotta

*Godderz and the Family continue to succeed with Josette Bynum in charge. Who will step up next to challenge for his & Switchblade's tag titles?

#4) RUDY SWITCHBLADE

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Southern Tag Team Champion

LAST MATCH: Defended successfully with Jessie Godderz against Shiloh Jonze & Raul LaMotta

*Switchblade and the Family continue to succeed with Josette Bynum in charge. Who will step up next to challenge for his & Godderz' tag titles?

#5) MOHAMAD ALI VAEZ

CURRENT TITLES: OVW Television Champion

LAST MATCH: Defended successfully against Jamin Olivencia

*Ali keeps stealing victories and escaping the wrath of a very angry Olivencia. How long will he be able to hold onto the TV Title with Jamin ready to pounce?
 #6) JAMIN OLIVENCIA

LAST MATCH: Defeated by Mohamad Ali Vaez in a TV Title match

*Jamin is hungry for revenge against Ali, and winning the TV Title in the process would only be icing on the cake.

#7) MICHAEL HAYES

LAST MATCH: Defeated Bolin Services 2.0 with James Moose Thomas in a handicap ladder match

*Now that Michael & Moose have won for Mickey to be free from BS 2.0, could they set their eyes on Rudy & Jessie's tag titles?

#8) JAMES MOOSE THOMAS

LAST MATCH: Defeated Bolin Services 2.0 with James Moose Thomas in a handicap ladder match

*Now that Michael & Moose have won for Mickey to be free from BS 2.0, could they set their eyes on Rudy & Jessie's tag titles?

 #9) JASON WAYNE

LAST MATCH: With Johnny Spade in a no contest against Nick Dinsmore & Rob Terry after turning on Spade

*Wayne has made his presence felt upon returning by turning his back on Johnny Spade and the OVW fans. He also helped to cost Spade the OVW Heavyweight Title in his match against Rob Terry at Saturday Night Special. Is Wayne upset that he filled in for Spade and it cost him a few months of his career?

#10) CHRIS SILVIO

LAST MATCH: Defeated Jose Del Barrio at Saturday Night Special

*Silvio is back on the winning track after getting past the big man, Del Barrio. But what else will Josette throw at him?

#11) SHILOH JONZE

LAST MATCH: Lost to Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz with Raul LaMotta in an OVW Tag Team Title match at Saturday Night Special

*Shiloh got cheated out of a victory, but more importantly found himself with a new partner at the last minute after Alex Silva no-showed him. Will he look for Silva to find out why?

#12) RANDY ROYAL

LAST MATCH: With Epiphany, defeated the teams of Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic and Paredyse & Blair Alexis at Saturday Night Special

*Royal has quickly been climbing the ranks in OVW forming a solid partnership with Epiphany. Will gold be in his future?

#13) EPIPHANY

LAST MATCH: With Randy Royal, defeated the teams of Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic and Paredyse & Blair Alexis at Saturday Night Special

*Epiphany has been making a statement lately against Taeler Hendrix. Certainly, she deserves another shot at the OVW Women's Title.

#14) TED McNALER

LAST MATCH: Defeated Adam Revolver in a "Gentleman's Rules" match at Saturday Night Special

*McNaler finally got some revenge against Revolver and got the girl in the end. Now that him & Brittany DeVore are back on the same page, what lies next for the Manbeast?

#15) TAELER HENDRIX

LAST MATCH: With Dylan Bostic, lost to the team of Randy Royal & Epiphany in a match at Saturday Night Special that also featured Paredyse & Blair Alexis

*Hendrix may still be OVW Women's Champion, but she seems more concerned with bossing around her boyfriend, Dylan Bostic, than watching out for a strong competitor in Epiphany.

#16) PAREDYSE

LAST MATCH: With Blair Alexis, lost to the team of Randy Royal & Epiphany in a match at Saturday Night Special that also featured Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic

*Paredyse wasn't concerned with a loss at SNS, as he seemed to enjoy watching Royal & Epiphany finally take care of business against Dylan Bostic & the "Prosti-tot" Taeler Hendrix. Will he continue to make life miserable for Brandon Espinosa? And will he finally expose the true gender of Chris?

#17) DYLAN BOSTIC

LAST MATCH: With Taeler Hendrix, lost to the team of Randy Royal & Epiphany in a match at Saturday Night Special that also featured Paredyse & Blair Alexis

*Bostic isn't wearing the pants in his relationship with Taeler Hendrix. Will he continue to follow her lead?

#18) BOLIN SERVICES 2.0

LAST MATCH: Lost a handicap ladder match to the team of Michael Hayes & James Moose Thomas

*BS 2.0 seems to have some issues. They lost Moose, then Mickey. Can they turn their recent downslide around?

#19) TONY GUNN

LAST MATCH: Won an 8-man tag with Daniel Pruce, Arik Christopher, & Elvis Pridemoore over the team of Raphael Constantine, Nick Dumeyer, Ricky Chevy, & Wolfgang

*Gunn's "happy pills" seem to be working for the master of the bearhug. Will he be able to continue his winning streak and "squeeze" into contention for OVW gold?

#20) BRANDON ESPINOSA

LAST MATCH: No contest with Chris in a match against Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic, Randy Royal & Epiphany, and Paredyse & Aleida Ortiz

*Espinosa has been in a downward spiral since losing to Paredyse and being featured in an exposing video. Due to not revealing Chris' gender, he was also left off the card at Saturday Night Special. If he doesn't turn things around soon, he could be in danger of falling off the Top 20 list.

NOTABLY MISSING:
*Alex Silva
-Since signing his contract with TNA Impact, the Lone Wolf has twice no-showed Shiloh Jonze and also missed making the Top 20. Is Silva now too good for Shiloh and OVW?

FACES TO WATCH:
*Raul LaMotta      *Vic the Bruiser      *Fabiano Rolento      *The Assassin
*The Baronis Brothers      *X2C      *Daniel Pruce

  1. Brian:
A few comments regarding your weekly ratings. And BTW…thank you for posting them. Excellent as always!
I disagree with Rob Terry in the number ranking. His last match was given to him by interference from the family. Yes, he is extremely talented, has the look and the dedication. But did he fairly win the match? Does not make him number 1? My recommendation for number 1 is Rudy Switchblade. He is the constant force in the family and the perfect thug. I like it. He is consistent in the arena and never waivers from his course. A great asset at OVW.
Two would be Spade followed by Terry at Three.
Michael Hayes would be four. But I have to apologize for my bias. I am a Gulf War Vet, so as fas I am concern he should be NUMBER 1! Period! I have witnessed first-hand the destruction and brutality of the conflict and honor and admire what he has accomplished. I was also outraged when the OVW scripted to have his prosthetic removed during a match and have him then beaten with it. There are certain boundaries that you should never cross with injured veterans.
Jamie Olivencia five next followed by Jason Wayne at 6.

Mohammed Ali Vaez at 7. Why? Like you I agree, he steals victories. Another great wrestler and he plays the “Punk” role very well. I hope OVW just lets him wrestle without interference from the family.
    8. Taeler Hendrix. Why….? Her embracing of the heal role. And she is assisting OVW with their business bottom line. She has a huge fan base, not just the ones in the audience. The only part I dislike is the moniker “Prosti-tot.” I don’t know if Royal came up with this one in his monologue or OVW scripted the term for him to use. In my business travels, I have seen real prosti-tots in third world countries. These are children who are pimped by their parents. The term is extremely degrading and very sad. I am surprised , since OVW has at times brands itself as great family entertainment. Is calling someone a child prostitute family entertainment? Or just entertainment? Sorry…is this ECW where we could call Francine “A Crack Whore!?” I will stop pontificating.
    9. Epiphany (Devorah) Will she get a chance to be the champion? Oh hell yes. Will she be the champion…No. Which is too bad. I like her. She is a great lady with a big heart. However her demeanor in the ring projects her as the perfect heel. Not a face. And she was the champion at one time. I hope that OVW grows their Femme Fatale Division. I see that Heidi has made a couple of OVW appearances. She has also done work at Absolute Intense Wrestling in Cleveland. Yeah and at SNS, you wrote that Paradyse’s female partner (Blair) was never tagged in. Well at least she debut (somewhat) on SNS.
    10. Mc Naler and 11 is Paradyse. Next Brolin Services and then Gunn. Even though I am not a fan of BS 2.0. Hopefully the NcNaler, DeVore and Revolver saga has been put to rest. I think the script for that one was taken directly out of Soap Opera Digest.
Randy Royal. Another great talent and phenomenal wrestler. I know you like him and so do I. But come on! Why is his build up and smack talk against a beautiful 116 lbs. woman? Why is it not directed towards his own gender? Maybe he wants Taeler? Is he jealous of Bostic? The story is getting stale and predictable. Taeler and Bostic get the cheated pin after being chased around the ring. Royal comes running in with Epiphany and the Taeler and Bostic leave the arena…. Yes, they finally get their hands on them at SNS but that too was a farce. Taeler has already defeated all of her competition several times over including Epiphany. Actually a good feud for Royal would be against Paradyse. Again, he is a great wrestler and I want to see more of him in the ring, rather than him chasing Bostic in the arena.
    17. Bostic. I agree, the up and coming wrestler from California has an entire future in front of him. I hope the handle as a “Dolt” doesn’t follow him for the remainder of his career.
Can’t wait to see your reports for Wednesday’s OVW TV taping!

  2. What happened to the TNA blog?

  3. As far as number 1, yes, Terry did have help from Josette & Jason Wayne. However, you can't argue success. Terry had been dominant the last several weeks and like it or not, he is the OVW champ.

I did not hear any results from any of this weekend's house shows.

As far as TNAswerve.com, the owner decided he no longer wanted to blog and shut the site down. All my reports are now here on the OVW exclusive site.
