OVW Report: TV #667 "New Sheriff in Town"

Big changes happened last night and the card (which can be found on my previous post) was finalized for this weekend's Saturday Night Special. Without further ado...here's what transpired:

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Ted "The Manbeast" McNaler b. Dylan Bostic (w/Taeler Hendrix). Dylan pointed at my "Prostitot" sign as he entered the ring and did a ripping motion, like he wanted to tear it up. I told him to come and get it... Anyway, a back and forth match until Taeler got on the ring apron which distracted the referee. Epiphany & Randy Royal ran out, and Epiphany pulled Taeler down. While the ref was distracted by them, Royal got in the ring and delivered his finisher to Bostic, allowing McNaler to get the pin. MY TAKE: This is another feud that is far from over.

Raphael Constantine (w/the X2C ladies) b. "LMC" LaMarcus Clinton. LMC with some early offense. Constantine would fight LMC off and then argue with the X2C ladies, who were scared Tony Gunn would find them with Ralphie. This happened a few times, until LMC got the upper hand again and the X2C ladies got on the ring apron distracting him. Constantine rolled him up from behind and put his feet on the ropes to steal the victory. MY TAKE: Constantine will need to use his speed to stay out of the bearhug from Tony Gunn, who will be coming for Ralphie.

"Marksman" Nick Dumeyer b. Randy Royal. A repeat of the first match. Royal controlled most of the match, until Taeler & Dylan made their way out. Taeler again got on the apron, allowing Dylan to sneak around and hit Royal, who was then hit with a finisher from Dumeyer. After the match, Taeler & Dylan celebrated over Royal, and Epiphany came out and slammed Taeler. Dylan jumped out of the ring and pulled Taeler out, as Epiphany grabbed Taeler's title and held it up. MY TAKE: It would have made more sense to me to reverse this match with the first one. Let the "heels" get one up first, then let Royal & Epiphany get their revenge.

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report. It is up now at www.ovwrestling.com/tv.

OVW Report: TV #666 "Enough Is Enough"

Another interesting night at OVW. We had a lot going on including a ring rope malfunction. Let's get to it...

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Chris Silvio b. Raphael Constantine. Team Tye-Dye was in the building and ready for business. Mo went to introduce Silvio, but X2C's music interrupted and out came Constantine. After the introduction, and before Constantine could even take off his entrance attire, Silvio nailed a rocket punch and knocked him out cold. After the match, Silvio told Jason Wayne he needed to remember where he came from, saying guys like Danny Davis, even Johnny Spade and himself that have helped him get to where he is. He said to remember it took 4 other guys (The Family) for him to beat him last week. MY TAKE: Silvio & Wayne could be a featured attraction at the next Saturday Night Special.

Vic the Bruiser b. Daniel Pruce. So this was where things kinda got off-track. Daniel stepped on the bottom rope during his entrance, and it snapped. So this match went on with only the top 2 ropes. Vic controlled most of this match and won after Pruce ran into a side slam. After the match, some of the officials, announcers, and Trailer Park Trash came out to work on the ring rope. This was a good 20-30 minute delay. To kill time, Terry Boddie reminded us that May's SNS was on sale at the merchandise booth, and Josette Bynum came out twice. The first time, she said everybody needed to hurry up or she was going to start firing people, and the second time she called out Daniel Pruce and fired him for breaking the bottom rope. MY TAKE: It will be interesting to see if they stick with this storyline of Pruce being fired, seeing as it came as extra during the technical difficulties.

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report.

Already set for OVW TV #666

For OVW's 666th episode to be taped on Wednesday, May 23rd, there are already 2 big matches set!

First, Mickey McMichaels will debut against Chris Bolin!

Also, Johnny Spade & Cliff Compton are set to take on the Family!
vs.

OVW Report: TV #665 "The Family's Party Crashed"

Hey all! Back from another exciting night of OVW action, which featured the fallout from Saturday Night Special.

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Tony Gunn b. Raphael Constantine. Gunn controlled most of this match. There was a small comeback by Constantine after Gunn was distracted by the X2C ladies, but the master of the bearhug made Constantine tapout for the win. MY TAKE: Gunn, with the help of Ralphie (who has his own twitter @realMrRalphie) and his "happy pills" continues to succeed. Hopefully his push continues.

Taeler Hendrix (w/Dylan Bostic) b. Heidi Douglas. Some back and forth action early and Heidi took control and was a house of fire. Unfortunately, Taeler was backed into a corner and while the ref tried to separate Heidi from Taeler, Taeler headbutted her and then took a pin while Dylan held her feet on the ropes. After the match, Taeler decided to kick Heidi a little more but fled with Dylan after Randy Royal & Epiphany chased them off. MY TAKE: Will we see Epiphany get a Women's title shot against the "Prosti-tot"? If so, hopefully Randy Royal can keep Dylan Bostic from interfering.

Rob Terry b. LaMarcus Clinton. Big Rob completely dominated and wasn't fazed at all by any shots 'LMC' tried to get in. Terry won it with a powerslam. MY TAKE: It's going to take someone smart and strong to challenge the new OVW Heavyweight Champion and take him down.

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report.

OVW May SNS Predictions

I'm doing something new and giving my predictions on what I think will happen tonight at the Saturday Night Special. It's sure to be a great show.

Chris Silvio vs. Jose Del Barrio
I don't see any way Del Barrio wins, unless it involves interference from the Family. I believe Silvio rocket punches his way to victory. PREDICTION: SILVIO.

GENTLEMAN'S RULES: Ted McNaler vs. Adam Revolver (Brittany DeVore as special judge)
I'm hoping this feud ends tonight. I'm guessing a scenario where Ted & Brittany actually fool Revolver, and all their arguing and bickering was fake this whole time. Ted makes Adam tap out. PREDICTION: MCNALER.

3-WAY MIXED TAG: Randy Royal & Epiphany vs. Dylan Bostic & Taeler Hendrix vs. Paredyse & Aleida Ortiz
I think with Brandon Espinosa & Chris missing from the equation in this match, that Paredyse & Aleida will be non-factors. Royal & Epiphany finally get some revenge against Dylan & Taeler, and hopefully Epiphany gets a rematch for the OVW Women's Title. PREDICTION: ROYAL & EPIPHANY.

Jamin Olivencia vs. ???
Whoever Josette brings out is going to feel the boiling over frustration of Jamin as he tears through them on his way to a match against Ali. PREDICTION: OLIVENCIA.

OVW SOUTHERN TAG TEAM TITLES: Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz (c) vs. Alex Silva & Shiloh Jonze
Something tells me there will be miscommunication between Silva & Shiloh, and therefore Rudy & Jessie sneak off with a victory and retain their titles. PREDICTION: SWITCHBLADE & GODDERZ.

HANDICAP LADDER MATCH: Bolin Services 2.0 vs. Michael Hayes & Moose
This one I feel could go either way, but I think BS 2.0 steals one and unfortunately Moose & Michael will be under the control of BS 2.0. PREDICTION: BS 2.0

OVW HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Johnny Spade (c) vs. Rob Terry
After weeks of being beat down and laid out, I think Spade comes back strong and defeats the big man. Possibly interference by the Family will backfire, and we could see an eventual face turn by Terry, especially now that Jason Wayne is back and turned heel. PREDICTION: SPADE.

As always, thanks for reading. I will have a report up late tonight following the show here on OVWmania and of course TNAswerve.com

OVW Saturday Night Special May 12, 2012: FINAL CARD

The next OVW Saturday Night Special is May 12th.

OVW Heavyweight Champion "Smooth" Johnny Spade faces his biggest challenge yet. Not only does he have to contend with the genetic freak Rob Terry, but who knows what tricks Josette Bynum and the Family will try to pull as they try to bring every championship to their stable. Regardless, this will be a huge main event.

In a huge match with major stipulations, Michael Hayes & Moose will face Bolin Services 2.0 in a handicap match. If Moose & Hayes win, they get Mickey back. If BS 2.0 wins, they get control of Moose & Hayes. On top of all this, this match will be a ladder match!
A "Gentleman's Rules" match between Ted McNaler & Adam Revolver with Brittany DeVore serving as special guest judge will be held. A Gentleman's Rules match means no slaps, punches, moves off the top rope, etc. Pure wrestling only.
ALSO:
Rudy Switchblade & Jessie Godderz (c) vs. Shiloh Jonze & Alex Silva for the OVW Southern Tag Titles
Mystery Opponent vs. Jamin Olivencia
Chris Silvio vs. Jose Del Barrio

Epiphany & Randy Royal vs. Taeler Hendrix & Dylan Bostic vs. Aleida Ortiz & Paredyse

OVW Report: TV #664 "Josette's Shocking Surprises!"

Sorry for the delay OVW Fans, but it's been a long week, and I've just gotten to the point where I feel like I'm somewhat caught back up. Last night at the Davis Arena, we witnessed some shocking returns and surprises. The rest of the card for Saturday Night Special was finalized as well, as it comes up this Saturday night, May 12th.

Pre-Show Dark Matches:

Rob Terry b. Daniel Pruce. Big Rob completely overpowered poor Daniel in this match and Pruce got his nose busted open in the process. MY TAKE: Could Terry be on his way to capturing the OVW Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night Special? I wouldn't be surprised.

Ted McNaler b. Raphael Constantine. This was a gentleman's rules match, a preview of what's to come Saturday when McNaler meets Revolver. McNaler made Constantine tap out for the victory. MY TAKE: Will this rivalry finally be settled at the Special? What role will Brittany DeVore play in it? I think Ted & Brittany may have been stringing Revolver along this whole time.

Jamin Olivencia b. Dave Osborne. Osborne attacked Jamin early and took the advantage, but Jamin fought back with his aggressive style and nailed his leaping DDT for the win. MY TAKE: Can Jamin control his aggression as he awaits the opportunity to get his hands on Mohamad Ali Vaez?

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report.

OVW TV #664 Tomorrow Night!

Tomorrow is the final television taping before the big Saturday Night Special this weekend on May 12. What will Josette have in store for the "Smooth One" Johnny Spade? She warned last week that he'd be in for a surprise and a "family reunion". What does this mean? Who will his opponent be? What type of match will it be? All that's known for sure is Josette is going to do everything in her power to soften Spade up for his OVW Heavyweight Title defense against Big Rob Terry on Saturday. Also, will Jamin Olivencia get his TV Title match against Mohamad Ali Vaez? Will Randy Royal finally get his hands on Dylan Bostic? How will Moose & Michael Hayes respond to being placed in a handicap ladder match? This will be a don't miss taping before the big show on Saturday Night!

OVW Report: TV #663 "Josette's Wrath Continues To Be Felt"

I had another fun night at OVW, and made a special sign for Taeler Hendrix that I think the Double R Superstar, Randy Royal loved! We saw some more new talent debut tonight.

Pre-Show Dark Matches:
Premiere Brutality (Eric Wayne & Killer Kid Nikels) b. the Baronis Brothers. This was the debut for Premiere Brutality and they made the most of it. MY TAKE: P.B. was a good looking tag team. I found out that Wayne was the son of Ken Wayne, one of the original "Nightmares" with OVW owner, Danny Davis.

Rob Terry b. Rogue Navy. A battle of big men saw Terry control early, followed by a small comeback by Navy. Navy tried to jump onto Terry, but was caught for a big slam, and then Terry delivered the knockout punch. MY TAKE: Terry continues to dominate as we head toward the next Saturday Night Special.

Mike Mondo came out and said that he's been outnumbered the last couple weeks by X2C, so he has a special partner to help him out in the feature main event following the taping. Cliff Compton comes out and says it's good to be back and that he wants the Davis Arena to be loud as they make history by teaming up for the first time ever.

Dylan Bostic & Taeler Hendrix b. Randy Royal & Epiphany and Paredyse & CJ Lane in a 3-way mixed tag match. Comedy spots early again between Paredyse & Royal, as Bostic did what he could to avoid getting in the ring. Paredyse tagged Bostic in and Royal chased him around the ring while Epiphany went after Taeler on the inside. While the ref tried to get Royal back in his corner, Bostic shoved Epiphany off Taeler in the corner and Taeler gets the pin with her feet on the ropes. MY TAKE: It's only a matter of time until Royal & Epiphany give Bostic & Taeler what's coming to them.
Following the match, Royal & Epiphany chased Taeler & Bostic to the back leaving Paredyse & CJ in the ring. Fabiano Rolento made his way to the ring and tried to schmooze CJ Lane. Paredyse kept tapping him on the shoulder until he finally turned around and Paredyse kissed him. CJ then slapped him, and Paredyse hit his finisher.

That concludes the pre-show dark matches. If you plan on watching the show first, you should pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report.

OVW Tonight: Spade v. ? "Dog Collar Match"

Tonight, Josette Bynum continues to try and punish "Smooth" Johnny Spade by placing him in a dog collar match, but to make things more complicated, he faces a mystery opponent! It should be a good one.

Fans can also expect to see the feuds continue between Espinosa-Paredyse, Revolver-McNaler, Royal/Epiphany-Hendrix/Bostic, and much more!

Tonight's show will be available tomorrow afternoon/evening via live streaming on ovwrestling.com, and as always I will be posting my thoughts online now on the exclusive OVW-only fansite, OVW mania!

Congratulations to OVW Superstar Alex Silva

If you follow Mr. Uh-Oh @SilvaUhOh on twitter, you know by now that Alex Silva is officially the newest member of the TNA Impact roster.

Congratulations and best wishes for continued success, Alex!

OVW Report: TV #662 "Josette's Reign of Terror"

I had another fun night at OVW, and was able to get a pic of me with the Double R Superstar, Randy Royal! Overall, I think tonight's show was better than last week's. We saw some new talent debut in dark matches tonight, and the return of some others.

Pre-Show Dark Matches:
Moose & Michael Hayes (w/Mickey) b. Jay Donaldson & Sean Virus. Donaldson & Virus made their debut in this match that was essentially a squash. Virus came out in black and green ring gear with matching face paint, and also spit green mist in the air when he entered the ring. Moose & Hayes worked well together and picked up the win. MY TAKE: Moose & Hayes are ready for revenge against Bolin Services 2.0.

Ted McNaler b. Fabiano Rolento. Rolento came out first with a sombrero and danced around the ring slapping his backside. He took the mic from ring announcer Brittany DeVore, announcing himself, and talking about how he was going to defeat his opponent. If I'm not mistaken, Rolento is actually former OVW talent Omar Akbar who used to team with Ali as the Insurgency, and apparently he's now Colombian, not Iranian. Okay. Anyway, Brittany gives Ted a dull introduction, as he gets in the ring and quickly hits the spear for the victory. After the match, Ted went to say something to Brittany, but she had ran off to the back. MY TAKE: The drama continues between Ted, Brittany, and Adam. I'm hoping it ends at the next Saturday Night Special. A quick squash in the re-debut for Rolento, but his new character intrigues me. I'll be interested in watching the development of his character as we move forward.
That was the only pre-show dark matches for tonight. If you plan on watching the show first, you may want to pick back up reading later as I move into the main show. I will always recommend watching the show first before reading my report.

OVW Report: TV #661 "The Josette Bynum Era Continues"

Hey everyone, I'm back with another report on OVW TV. Tonight, Ms. Bynum continued to abuse her power and make things tough for all those who stood against her.

Pre-Show Dark Matches:
Paredyse b. Dylan Bostic (w/Taeler Hendrix). Hendrix continues to boss Dylan around and prove who wears the pants in this relationship. Paredyse provides his usual comedic moments for the crowd. Taeler tries to distract Paredyse, but it backfires. MY TAKE: Taeler is getting a lot of heat now for siding with the Family and being super annoying at ringside. Paredyse really knows how to work the crowd and is a big fan favorite.

"The Double R Superstar," Randy Royal & Epiphany b. CJ Lane & "Marksman" Nick Dumeyer. This match was mostly controlled by Royal & Epiphany. It looked like Royal had a pin on Dumeyer, but CJ broke it up. Epiphany got in the ring, and her & Royal each hit their finishers on their opponents for a double cover and pin. MY TAKE: It looks like they are getting ready for a real showdown between Royal & Epiphany and Bostic & Taeler. My vote is for Royal & Epiphany. Royal loved my sign.

Brandon Espinosa (w/Chris) b. Brent Baronis (w/Brandon Baronis)
Espinosa controlled most of this match as well and won with his finisher. MY TAKE: Espinosa may snap at all the comments he gets from the locker room on the video that Paredyse released of him in what appeared to be a gay bar. I'm still awaiting to see where they decide to go on this angle.

*SPOILER ALERT* If you wish to watch the show first, you may want to stop reading for now.

OVW Report: TV #660 "The Family Rules"

Well, I'm back from vacation and finally got to watch this week's episode online. Before I review what I saw, I'd like to mention this month's issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated that's currently on newsstands. It features Rock & Cena on the cover, but has a 4 or 5 page article inside focusing on the relationship between TNA & OVW, and how it will be beneficial to both companies. It's an interesting read, and I'm even featured! Not really, but I can be seen in a picture of Rob Terry behind one of his massive tree-trunk legs.

The OVW landscape changed quite a bit in the matter of a few days between last week's Saturday Night Special and this past Wednesday's TV Taping which can be seen online by clicking here.

OVW Report: Saturday Night Special Results 4-7-12

Wow! What a show we were treated to tonight at the Davis Arena. It was an action packed card and it did not disappoint. It was a pretty good crowd and they were amped for the big main events between Shiloh/Spade and Trash/Terry. Without further ado, let's jump into the results.

OVW Report: TV #659, Dark Matches, Randy Terrez

OVW's latest TV episode #659 is now streaming at www.ovwrestling.com/tv/659

This episode features a brawl between Rob Terry & Trailer Park Trash that also involves OVW Owner Danny Davis, a Television Title defense by Chris Silvio, #1 contenders for the Southern Tag Titles Anarquia & Raul in action, the continuing feud between U.S. Army Veteran Michael Hayes and Bolin Services 2.0, a face-off between Jamin Olivencia and Mohamad Ali Vaez, and X2C in action against OMG who are partners for this match, but opponents at Saturday Night Special. There is also backstage happenings with Ted McNaler/Adam Revolver/Brittany DeVore and Brandon Espinosa/Paredyse. This episode is a must-see heading into this weekend's Saturday Night Special.

One of the benefits of being at the live shows is being treated to bonus matches that you can't see on the tapings. Last night, there was a post-show dark match that saw Jessie Godderz (w/Rudy Switchblade) defeat Randy Terrez. The ending of the match was a bad one for Terrez, as he flipped off the top rope and landed awkwardly on his left leg. It appeared that he clutched his left knee immediately and Godderz went straight into the pin. The dreaded "X" signal was made following the pin. Although the severity of his injury is not known, Randy will probably miss some in-ring action for a while, and I would like to send well wishes his way.

Pre-show dark matches saw Alex Silva def. Nick Dumeyer, Randy Royal def. Elvis Pridemoore, Mohamad Ali Vaez def. David Osborne, and Tony Gunn def. Kamel. I'm really hoping to see Silva, Royal, & Gunn featured more prominently on the tapings soon.

OVW Report: Saturday Night Special Card

First, I'd like to say hello to all the TNAswerve readers. I have been going to all the live OVW shows, so I bring a different perspective of the OVW product. (More than what you see from the show only, online or on TV.) I have been a wrestling fan since my dad started taking me to live shows when I was real young. We would go to a lot of the Tuesday night USWA shows at the Louisville Gardens, where names like Jerry Lawler, Bill Dundee, & Jeff Jarrett were the big stars. I've been an OVW fan for several years, going back to before they even became developmental for WWE. I've been regularly attending the OVW tapings and Saturday Night Specials for the last several months, and I will share some of my perspective on what I see every week.

This week's OVW taping was the final one before this Saturday's Special and the card has filled out nicely. Make sure if you don't live in the Louisville area, that you check out the show when they add it online sometime Thursday afternoon/evening. (Also keep in mind that the show airs on TV Saturday afternoon, so you will hear some of them say they will meet "tonight".) This Saturday's card looks like this:

For control of OVW:
Director of Operations: Trailer Park Trash v. Rob Terry
(The Family is banned from ringside and Josette is banned from the building)

OVW Heavyweight Championship:
"Smooth" Johnny Spade (c) v. Shiloh Jonze

OVW Southern Tag Team Championships:
"Mr. Pec-Tacular" Jessie Godderz & Rudy Switchblade (c) v. Los Locos (Anarquia & Raul LaMotta)

Brandon Espinosa v. Paredyse
(If Paredyse wins, he shows a video of Espinosa, but if not, the tape will never be seen)

Grudge Match:
Mohamad Ali Vaez v. Jamin Olivencia

Michael Hayes v. Rocco Bellagio

After Saturday Night Special, I will post the results as well as some commentary based on what I see happen. I've already made a prediction to Chris several weeks ago that I see Michael Hayes defeating Rocco on Saturday, and then BS 2.0 attacking him afterwards, which will ultimately lead to a face turn by James "Moose" Thomas. There were some fans chanting for Moose tonight at the taping. As far as control of OVW? I'm still split on what I think will happen. I do think we will see Spade retain, and a win by Paredyse as well.
